The Front Porch Swing

All kids are different and they all develop in their own way and speed. I have three boys and no two hit the milestones at the same time. My oldest walked, no, ran at seven months. My middle waited until he was nine months (still early) and the last one, Reese, was over a year old when he took his first steps. That last one was closest to "normal" and had me afraid there was a problem. He was the same one that was a bit quiet around people he just met, but talked well and constantly at home. One day, the daycare was closed for some reason and I had to work so I hired his daycare teacher to come to my house to babysit all three boys. She stayed with them at my house all day and when I got home from work she met me at the back door all excited. She was nearly beside herself with excitement.

Sitter : Did you know Reese could talk?!
Me: What do you mean? (confused)
Sitter: I heard Reese talking to his brothers!!
Me: Why? What did he say? (still confused)
Sitter: He was TALKING!!!!
Me: Did you NOT KNOW he could talk? (He had been at that daycare since he was two months old and he was just over 2)
Sitter: No. We thought there was something wrong with him. He's never said a word at school.
Me: Why didn't you tell me?
Sitter: We thought you knew.

Daughter Terrin was that way. I didn't think she'd ever start talking. Just pointed and grunted - a lot. For Christmas her grandparents sent her a toy telephone. I walked past the girls' room and thought I heard Tam talking on the phone. I stopped, and realized that it was Ter. She was telling her "Gammy" what she got for Christmas. Little stinker - she could talk just fine.

Kendra's seizures haven't let up even with the change in meds. So as long as that flow of information keeps being interrupted she's likely to remain behind. We get so excited about every little thing she does! Last night was huge - I'm still grinning. Oh, and she's repeated it a couple of times today while I've been babysitting her. YIPPPEE!

Look at that boy - not one bit afraid of the size of the character! We used to live near LA and the Navy Special Services had steeply discounted family passes for Disneyland, so we went a lot. The first time then 4 year old Terrin saw her hero, Mickey Mouse, right in front of her she quite literally wet her pants! Oh, how she cried....both because Mickey terrified her and because she'd had an accident!

You've had an adventure! My grandkids call it "makin' memories". Yup! Welcome back...and thanks for the pictures!

Yah, my son doesn't startle easily! He climbs everything and is pretty outgoing. He did splash mountain five times (twice he sat in the very front) space mountain once ad the Matterhorn twice.... No fear! It was a lot of fun for all of us.
