The Front Porch Swing

just to add a teeny bit to the whole electricity conversation..... The hotter (physically hotter) the wire gets the more resistance it has and the less electricity can go through....

This is from my days of packaging circuit boards for server bays for cell phones. packaging is a term for designing the metal box or container for electronics.

this means the bigger diameter the wire the better.....

ooh I realize I dont have a main breaker in the house its out on the power pole a thousand feet away.
Nother question to ask the electrician.

Blooie, I'm a happy camper today. I just got notice from my Marraduna Basque seller that the foam insert I bought, thank you, came in and she has 10 eggs and almost ready to ship. Too late for the New Years Hatch a Long but who cares. I'll be getting the eggs from a new seller at $10 doz. plus $12 shipping. One state over. TX. They travel very well and I'll have the foam insert to use again. Woohoo. I couldn't have done it without you. I didn't want to buy 10 at $89. (Foam inserts)

The weather is finally letting up a bit. One coop is nice and dry but the new coop is not weather proof. My 8 Cobb 500 girls are wet and muddy. I'm letting it dry today and putting down new shavings tomorrow. I need to get 10 bags of topsoil to put down around it to keep the rain from trickling in. I have the money now but no one to move it. 40 lbs is too much for me. And I'll need at least 15 bags. Maybe 8 to do north and east side.

I told my DD Jenny from Vancouver to get me a pressure canner for Christmas. She decided to send me money and let me buy it. I'm glad because I've decided to wait on it for a few months and buy one of those handheld vacuum and mulch thingys for leaves. Kickstart my compost. I need that first.

I've bought all my presents so just monitoring my money until the end of the month. I hope that everyone is as happy as I am today. Life is so good. Not perfect but, you know, it's life. I love you folks and appreciate the time and stories that everybody shares.

Oh, Linda, I'm so glad that worked out for you! I thought it was a brilliant way to ship eggs after hearing so many horror stories of eggs wrapped in newspaper and a single square of bubble wrap arriving broken and scrambled! We'll need pictures when the hatch hatches! I've never heard of Marraduna Basque but I can't wait to broaden my horizons a little bit.

Sounds like Life in LindaLand is going well.....I always love to read about the good days a friend is having.

I hope my wife is the "acts of service" type or I didn't need to clear her car and the driveway of snow at 5 AM both yesterday and today so she could go to work

Don't worry about it Felix. The werewolf disappears after some years. Though you might wish for her to come back and replace the "constant hot flash/cold flash" version that will likely hang around for a couple of years.

I think he meant LITTLE Diane, everyone knows your name is Blooie

Bruce: I think, no matter what the wife's primary love language is, acts of service is right up there! (AKA Blondie's little "job jar"!)

Felix: In my house, those are not called hot flashes. They're called power surges.

@bruceha2000 Your wife sounds like a smart lady. Nothing wrong with being practical! My husband sometimes gets annoyed because he says I'm hae to buy for because everything I need I sooner or later find at a thrift store or yardsale! I want a small freezer and some canning stuff this year. I'm pretty sure he will get me the canning stuff. I'll have to get a freezer sometime soon.
Alice, hubby asked me what I want for Christmas this year. I told him he'd already bought my present: I admired a nice bright pink tool box, and we bought it last time we were shopping. it will carry my drill, and a few hand tools, and any small gadgets I need to complete a basic project in the yard/coop! But, I told him that I'd love to have some Ball wide mouth canning jars! Can't wait to turn all of those frozen chickens into canned chicken!

There is absolutely no reason for posting this video!  I found it this evening while cleaning up my photo files, and just had to share it.  Like I said on another forum, if you don't giggle yourself at least once, better have someone check your pulse!

nothing better than a good giggle!

. Also, I love that video of Kendra and the fan! I use to work at a bakery and all the little kids that came in would stare at the fan. I've never heard one laughing and getting so much joy from it though! Adorable.

I ordered myself a staple gun to put up my clear cloth on the Cobb 500 coop. It will come in next week. I'm feeling so accomplished. I bought a drill and finally used it recently. Now I have a hole saw attachment that I'm going to put holes in 5 gallon buckets to do my gardening this year. Line with fabric cloth. Air prune. I haven't got the courage to try it out yet, but it's paid for and I'm gonna use it.

Linda, gotta love those power tools. I tell you, a woman with a full set of power tools can do some awesome stuff, and sometimes get into some awesome trouble! Hole saw shouldn't be much trouble on the bottom of the buckets. I've never used one on the curved side.
