The Front Porch Swing

You are such a hoot Felix!

Boy, Christmas trees in Finland sure are different than they are here! And I would think you would have snow on the ground by now.

BTW the snow rails I put up on the west side of the north building of the house are doing their job. I'm thinking I should put some up on the east side as well. The snow can slide only as far as the roof on the enclosed porch (it is only about 18" down) but that sure puts a mess of it right outside the window of the bedroom in the south building. Any new snow that falls will just make the pile higher! Everything slid off the roof of the other building of the house. Huge piles on the back deck and in the front yard. Have some impressive icicles coming off the enclosed porch. 35F today so a lot of melting going on.

Bruce, that's because you're used to the wrong kind of trees

We're about 5 deg C above normal temps at the moment, so no snow that sticks yet. We haven't even entered thermal winter yet, that should have happened over a month ago.

Probably. But if we were to switch to the right kind of tree, I think we would have a hard time getting that Christmas feeling. The scent of a traditional Balsam or Fraser Fir goes a long way!

Looking at your picture, I'm wondering if you have Mai Tais instead of egg nog

Bruce, ah, you were talking about that tree. Yeah, Deb photoshopped us on a tropical island. I thought you were talking about the Christmas tree pic I posted a few days ago, but that was maybe in another thread.

Here's more of a Finnish Christmas-tree. Spruce is the traditional choice around here.

I'm not a fan of Mai Tais, and I don't think I've ever tried egg nog. Glögg is what we go with usually around Christmas.

Nope didn't see that tree, only the one in your avatar. I did notice that the two of you look VERY similar in your Italy avatar.

Man that Glögg must have quite a kick!
I found a recipe for "Old Fashioned Swedish Glögg". Port wine, rum and Bourbon whiskey. One wonders just how "Traditional" it is given 2 of those come from the western hemisphere.

Found another for "classic Scandinavian" Glögg using red wine and brandy. A bit easier to believe this is a classic.

Blanched almonds, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, sugar, orange and raisins seem to be common. Most definitely a different drink than the thick milk and cream based egg nog. Though I see there are egg nog recipes out there that won't taste at ALL like the stuff we buy at the store. Rum, brandy, bourbon. Starting to sound like the thick version of Glögg!

We got married yesterday. All casual like.

Now THAT is what I call a wedding. Congratulations, you guys!!!!!

We went out for some dinner afterward.

In lieu of wedding cake we bought icecream and toppings and had sundaes at home (Me and the Mr couldn't decide on what kind of cake we wanted
lol.png
So I suggested sundaes)

The boys were out like a light not much later.
