The Front Porch Swing

@wyoDreamer So exciting! I'm sure a bit stressful too, but I just can't wait to see pictures when it's all done! Such a cute farm kitchen! I love it! Can't wait to see the finished product. Every time you post pictures I just want to just show up and move in more and more! Haha.

Been pretty busy here, DH and I have been doing a little kitchen upgrade.
Before

We stripped the lathe and plaster all the way down to seeing the daylight through the cracks in the outer wall. They had blown in insulation before siding the house with vinyl, but over half of this area didn't get insulated. No wonder the kitchen was so cold.

Where we are today

Sink is installed but the water is not hooked up yet and the electric is not connected to the main panel.

After a couple of days working together -
Titled WELL, IT DON'T FIT THERE, GUESS I NEED TO HIDE THE BODY SOMEWHERE ELSE.
Awesome just awesome.... Can I borrow you guys for my Kitchen rehab?

This weather has been unbelievable! Notice that it's after 7 in the evening. Also notice what the high for the day was. Did I move out of Northern Wyoming and no one remembered to tell me?

Now, remember a year ago when Ken and were freezing while trying to finish the coop? We put the chicks out on April 1 of last year before the coop was even done all the way.

April 3, 2014. THIS is normal.

Everyones weather seems to be a bit off this spring. Sorry, I'll take it right now as I thought we had a cold winter. I just hope we don't get a late freeze and loose all the apple and cherry blossoms.
My friends around Cheyenne said that the winter was pretty mild, all said and done with. A lot of warmer temps than usual and they had days without wind, where they could actually go outside and enjoy the 60 degree temps. In the 7 years I lived there, I don't think we had any sunny winter days without a minimum 30 mph wind blowing. It always seemed like God turned up the wind dial in October and didn't remember to turn it off again until June.

Thanks for the thumbs up guys! That old sink unit was pretty hard to live with. The sink had no plug so you had to use a bin to wash dishes in, and the base was rusted out pretty bad and we had a mouse problem in there so there was no way I was putting the bin under the sink when no in use. And only two of the drawers worked. No sign of mice anywhere else in the living areas, just under the kitchen sink.

PARTY at Wyo's house - they should be ready for us by Mid May, don't ya think? And I'll bring Molly so Pistol Pete has someone to play with!

NO PROBLEM!!! We have to go get DD2 from Beloit about then and Wyo previously said our route takes us only about 3 miles from her house.

That picture of "the hidden body" is why I could never be a plumber. Ooooh my aching back!!!

You can buy a plug

but yeah, the rusted base is not so good, mice either.

I wouldn't trade my 1942 porcelain on cast iron farm sink for anything new. Basin on the left is deep, we put the drainer there. The one on the right is "regular". It has beautiful brass sink flanges! Yeah, I have to shine them up but the stuff I use to clean the sink does the trick. I had to buy a strainer basket and a rubber stopper. Both easily found though the strainer is standard chrome.

No I haven't finished the cabinets for the wall oven and range hood yet, working on them though! And yes, that "temporary" metal table is still there. Some day before I die, there will be a work table or cabinet there as well.

Forgot to mention: I'm a WEE bit worried about that switch right over the sink. I'm sure it will be GFI protected but I'd rather see it to the side of the sink. Batch feed disposers don't need a switch, the "switch" is the plug which makes a magnetic contact. You can't run the disposer without having the plug in so no chance of getting water on a wall switch and no chance of chopping your hand up.
