The Front Porch Swing

Hey there! Room for me on the swing? First time seeing this thread, and though I would join in. :)

Cat's...I found a really sweet black and white kitten with a mustache that I want, but hubby is allergic. We kept our other cat outside for the most part, but he would sleep in the house at night...he was potty trained just like a dog...stopped using the litter box in the house when he was like 6 months old. It was awesome. Hubby and I are not really cat people, but I do think they are adorable, and good for keeping mice and such at bay, and I love a good cuddly kitty...I've just had bad experiences with psycho indoor cats. lol Hubby said no to mustache kitty for right now sadly...I think if we had a barn he would have ok'd it.

Our first chick hatched! I'm wondering if anymore will though since that was day 19, and 5:00am today was day 21. :( I hope a few more do.

I made a trade with someone local for working with her on her farm, and in exchange I get two alpaca's! So I'm excited about that. Lots of work to do around here before we can get them though. I love to trade...unfortunately I don't yet have much of value. :p

I don't care for sage either...or thyme...I really want to try lamb though to see if we like it.

Ah...and with that...my coffee is cold, and my children are beginning to wake up for the day. I have LOTS to do...so I am off and running! Maybe see you on the swing this evening. ;)

The apple trees are blooming!!

DH claimed that they did not bloom last year when he was here by himself - I was still living in Wyoming ASKING FOR PICTURES OF ANYTHING THAT BLOOMED!
Now to hope that is doesn't freeze tonight and kill all hopes of apples ...

Hey Hey! Sit and swing a while! I have to take the rocking chair, though. If I sit on a swing with anyone else I usually end up motion sick!! Good to meet you. Sounds like you have your work cut out for you! Congrats on the chick.

a few more hatch for you. I have a welsummer hen sitting on some guinea eggs right now. Day… oh… I can't remember. They *should* hatch next Thursday. I candled them last week and pulled out 3, two quitters and a clear. 9 were developing well!

I'm a big fan of sage. Particularly on pork tenderloin with some salt, pepper, and minced garlic and grilled.

How old are your children? I have two boys, 7 and 4. The youngest will be going to school next year… don't know what I will do with myself! Maybe have a somewhat clean house and be able to get more work done without having to make up for it at night?

WOOO HOOO! Ours bloomed weeks ago here in VA. The peach trees already have little peaches on them, which need thinning already. Our red apples (no clue on the type) did well last year. The green apples barely bloomed and probable produced about 5 apples between 3 trees. This year they bloomed well. I think we had a cold snap last year that affected them.

I have 6 pawpaw trees that I need to get in the ground. We have finally laid down our plans and location for the garage/shop and big chicken coop, so the pawpaws can go in the ground! DH says we need to get a post hole digger for the tractor first. That guy and his implements.

Fingers crossed for you!! Our apples are not pretty, but I don't do anything but prune them. Don't have to be pretty for applesauce, pie, and crisp, though!!

Welcome to the porch Mrshaggie. If you sit on the bucket in the corner, don't worry if it smells a bit funky, or wiggles a bit. There's a turtle under it. Blooie, you had to ask, he's still under the bucket, but the bucket has moved over to the NE corner. Right beside the huge potted begonia.

Welcome! Oh, I love alpacas! If I had the room, I'd try to get one. Beautiful creatures!

I hope some more of your chicks hatch out. Crossing my fingers!

I should give it another shot...I haven't had it often, I just love rosemary so much I tend to stick to what I know.

Our kids are 9, 7, 5, 4, and 1. We homeschool. Free time would be lovely! I'm so behind on my very long list of to-do's!

My apple tree is still little...I was hoping for a couple blossoms this year...but none yet.

What's everyone having for dinner? I think I'm making orange chicken.
