Hey, since my allotment has been confirmed, I have decided to post what I think will be my final list of birds.

Please bare in mind that this is an end game list and a goal of mine, I wont be getting most of the birds on this list for a while...

The list is....

Pekin duck x4
Pekin drake
Khaki Campbell duck x2

Mallard call duck
Mallard call drake
White call duck

Ancona hen x2
Ancona cockerel
Silkie x2

Hamburg hen x2
Hamburg cockerel
Polish x2

Rhode Island Red x4
Rhode Island Red cockerel
Black australorp x3
White leghorn
Barred rock

P.s the gaps represent a new coop and run

So what do you think?
Any advice welcome x

That’s a nice list but my first thought would be, how many are you allowed? On my allotment, I’m only allowed six hens of either chickens, ducks, quails, geese. And we’re not allowed males of any species.

The allotments have some silly rules regarding poultry and there can be some cranky people on them, keep your chin up and your end point in focus. They’re a big commitment and hard work.

I would also make your coops and runs larger than they suggest. They told me I can only have 2sqft per bird in the coop and 6sqft per in the run. And I’m only allowed one coop/run per allotment. Your allotments likely have different rules but put your foot down and educate them.

I believe I’m aloud more then that, I’m aloud up to 30% of my alloment to be runs, but a way to get round it is to have large fenced of areas. One person on the allotment has like 20+ geese and at least 50 ducks and chickens as well as pheasant on an aviary at the back. Thanks for the response tho x

That’s good then, good luck :)

How does this allotment thing work?
Is it a piece of land, not at your house - but nearby, where you can grow vegetables and keep food animals?
Do you have to pay rent on it?
How far from your house?
I think it would be hard to do these things not right at your house and yard(garden),
but maybe that is the only option?
Sorry for all the questions, am just curious about ways of life in other countries.
