I've been noticing some unwelcome changes in the peafowl world since I started twelve years ago. The peafowl "hobby" has turned into a peafowl industry in which birds are mass produced with no thought of quality or good genes. Birds are mongrolized with Green peafowl to produce mutts all for making an extra buck or two. Where did breeding and rearing for birds that are pure blooded and good representations of the wild types go? Why is the peafowl world looking more and more like the chicken world.

In my opinion, the hybridization of India Blue in America is complete. I don't believe that you can actually find any 'pure' IB in the states.

Gerald Barker of Bobs Green Peafowl, @barkerg is the only true conservative of Green peafowl of any consequence here in the states. Yes, there are a few people that have a pair or two but no one has the knowledge, experience, or dedication that man has. He is responsible for providing pureblood Greens back to many countries.

Gerald has offered me pure Imports but quite frankly I do not have any desire to have bat-shit crazy birds that require very large pens, heat in the winter, take four years to mature, and are prone to killing themselves and their mates. Why would anyone above the Mason Dixon line want to?

It takes a very special person under the right set of circumstances to do what he does and thank god that there is someone like him to do it.

Here at Spring Creek Peafowl, we are producing more and more high-quality high percentage Spauldings because it is a beautiful bird that most people in the US can have and appreciate. We are not dooming the fate of the 'pure' Greens, that is something that will be accomplished on its own self.

There are still pure india blues in the US thankfully they are out of the hands of peafowl people and in the hands of people who will not turn them into mutts. I'm up to 16 greens up here in WI all just as pure as anything Gerald has I just don't spread it around much because I don't feel like getting pestered the way he told me he has to deal with.
