I've said this a gazillion times but I'll say it again.

I have no problem at all with younger members of this site. I like that they have a safe place to play on the internet. I don't mind at all that there is a GJF section and if they have fun there then I am all for it.

I browse through BYC by clicking on Recent Posts. That way I can see the thread title, the section it is from and the OP and then I can decide if it is a thread I would like to read. THat's just the way I have always done it and it is a habit now that I would find very hard to change. My problem is that when I now click on Recent Posts the page is mostly taken up by GJF threads. There are a LOT of them. And often they are all very very similar in subject. They are overwhelming and as someone else pointed out quite often illegible. And yes I have concerns that all these fun threads might cause an emergency not to be seen. All I want to do is browse through chicken related posts and the occasion random rambling without having to sort though numerous clan threads and who has a crush on who and who is flying in the spaceship next. It IS a chicken website after all.

So despite popular belief I don't believe the members who you think are wanting the youngsters to leave actually DO want that. We just want the chicken stuff and the fun stuff to be separate. That's all.

Yes sometimes it seems that half of the recent topics are GJFs, that just means we are not posting enough LOL .I also ussually go thru the topics one at a time to see what if any I can add to so I rarely go to recent topics. It also might be easier for the MODs to moniter the GJFs from the recent topics.

It's about choosing what you want to see. isn't there a way we can hide individual forums and customise what we see? so the young folk don't have to see the forum's about knitting and the old folk don't have to see the forum's about chicken clan's and the vegetarians don't have to see the meat bird section and the squemish don't have to see the diseases forum?

That way we can all come together and be in the same place, but not be exposed to the things we don't want to be?

Would someone cleva step in please, like a mod or Nifty himself?

There is NO movement afoot to discourage the younger members at all. It's really more a question of focusing once again on poultry rather than Games.

Once again, there is a way to avoid seeing the Social section, which includes the Games. If you want to see a specific section, go to the Index page and click on that topic.

I dont think anyone wants to do away with the GJF section. A lot of posts do get run down and off the recent topics quickly sometimes. Specialy during high tide for the younger users. That is why I usually go thru the topics one at a time, It also explains why I always arrive late to the hot topics LOL.

Yup, you've missed the few grumps that have said it. I don't hear it often, so I can't name anyone who's said it, but I was keeping that point in there so that even the 'grumps' may be included in our discussion.

I don't mind the GJ&F section at all. If there are several GJ&F posts on the "Recent Posts", I just scroll on down.
I also look at the "Unanswered" posts to see if there is any way I can help someone with a chicken emergency in case it got moved on down without any responses.
I like that they young 'uns have a safe place to visit with each other and often add to the more serious posts as well.
No one wants the young people to leave the forum-they add a lot, in my opinion.
