Well, in July and August while you are harvesting, I will be watering trying to keep the pepper plants alive so they'll last until next year... I had a two year old bell pepper plant that lost it on New Years morning when it got down to 24 degrees. Unheard of in Phoenix....
I started mine in the house with a grow light!! We get late freezes here, (yes even in Cali)... But I want to raring to go when the weather is right! Last year we didn't get tomatoes till end of August!!

You expose the potatos to light a month or so before you are ready to plant, and the sprouts come out, but due to the fact that they are exposed to light, they stay short, strong and green, as opposed to those which sprout in the dark.....Apparently, this gives you about a two week edge on the harvest...This is beneficial, if you are selling new potatos, because you will beat everyone else to market.
I will be lucky to get the garden in before June 1 at the earliest. I have got my seed catalog and let's just say that the garden well be the most expensive one yet. although it is cool because we start getting strawberries in the first week of Juneso it's not that I think last year we got three hundred boxes in 10 days. I might be getting some more raspberry canes this year to, that will be a fun thing to try to work out to be a boat $6.03/cane
ordered my seeds ane they came yesterday! I will probably start planting in paper cups here in the next few days and see how we go. ive never started a garden this early, but im going to try it. Its a gamble in my area... one of the biggest snow days i remember was april 1st. I wish i had a green house
57 more days of winter here. 5 degrees F this AM. Who knows what it will drop to tonight. Another storm coming Tues/Wed. I'm depressed. Think I'll go read M'farmboys post #259, Random Ramblings, Recovering energy thread.

Exactly! Id be happy with 3 consecutive days above 30, never mind PLANTING!! GAAAH!
I am clearly living in the wrong state........ The wife & I (mostly me) are thinking about buying another piece of land and either building or find one with a house. We (translated= I ) want more land so we (translated= I ) can have more chickens, a few turkey's and she (translated= I ) want to plant a garden. Maybe I just need to look for another job in a warmer climate....
