Easy construction. 4" PVC pipe, and 4" Wye, a cleanout cap, and 2 4" caps! Viola!! All I need to do now is figure out how to cover the opening during inclement weather. I'm sure I'll find an idea in here somewhere.

The water system is in now!! It took about 10 minutes for one of them to figure it out and then, all 10 wanted to drink from the same spot! Chickens......

I put a cap on it every night. Did you do the same and still have rats?
The hens tend to toss feed onto the floor. If there is any food around the rats come. However I did find a nontoxic way to get rid of the rats. Mix equal parts of plaster of paris and cornmeal into a dough, make balls with it and toss it where you think the rats are. Make sure the chickens can't get to it. The rats eat it and take it back to their nests. The plaster of paris gets into their stomach they go for water and it just blocks their whole system I am told. I know it works because no more rat poo in the hen house.
