Framed out this little project yesterday. Gonna build the metal shed today and tomorrow. This gives them some shade and an extra 80 sf of dirt to play in. The run will be built off the right side 8 x 10 as well.

OK, what happened to the concrete piers?!....buried or replaced?
The space under coop is nice for shade, but remember you may need to crawl under there,
so access should be kept in mind.

8x10 is a nice size, how many birds will you have?

Oh, and.... Welcome to BYC! @thomkatflyer
Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, and then it's always there!

Thanks for the help. Got my location in there now. Central NC rarely has extreme temps either way. The concrete piers are buried with the tops just under the soil. There will be an access door on the left end when I put the hardware cloth around it. I have 10 pullets right now in the brood box and should get them out to their new home this weekend. The run will be 8 x 10 as well off to the right end.

Gets pretty darn hot tho, right?
Any plans for ventilation and windows?
Chickens have more trouble from heat than cold.
Here's a great thread about putting windows in a metal shed:

Yes, plenty of ventilation. I will be installing vents close to floor level and a "Spinner" vent at the roof to allow convection to get the heat out. For the windows, I'm planning to cut vertical on the flat portions of the panels and just use plexi-glass to allow for ambient light. I do plan for a light to be in the coop as well that I can control thru wifi from the house. Again, thank you for your insight. More to follow.....
