The Great Egg Shipping Experiment!

Alaskan I would put the shipped eggs under the broody, have had my Silkies hatch eggs that did not hatch in the incubator - split shipments.

But would you pick the new shipped (just arrived eggs) or the ones already incubated for about a week and a half?

Does it not matter in terms of how many will hatch?

Kind of exciting, it is a very nice Cochin, sweet temperament and super fluffy so perfect for brooding a bunch of eggs. :D Unfortunately we never named her, because we have three white Cochins and we simply can not tell them apart.

Put a zip tie on their leg.

I would give the new eggs to her

I kinda like the idea of using the already slightly incubated eggs, thinking that they have had more time to settle, so would have a better hatch than the newly arrived ones that might benefit from some more time to settle.

But, I am totally guessing, I wish someone had some data for me.

you wont find data on it

do what you think is best

Oooh!

Shipped egg set #4 arrived, and were packaged VERY nicely!

No double box, but lots of crumpled newspaper for packing, and then the eggs were wrapped with three separate bubble wrap strips, first bubble wrap strip around the middle, taped (to itself, not the egg), second strip around the top, third strip again around the middle. All eggs were so tightly against each other that there was obviously no wiggle room, and they all stayed upright. Even with the box a bit banged up, the eggs look great.

The first picture, I had already removed one egg.

The picture above two of the taped bubble wrap strips have been removed, the last strip is still on the egg.

Now you've done it! Those are my project birds and only my special customers got those. Now that you posted a pic, everyone will want some. Oh well, at least I don't have to keep it to myself anymore.

This is what they look like at hatch, and below is some of the parent stock.............
