The Great Egg Shipping Experiment!

Yep... I did errands during lunchtime.. You know, I normal person kinda thing.

;)

I am unwrapping right now, so far so good... But thought that I better ask now.. How long do you want me to let them set before putting them into the incubator?

I would wait until late tonight, then out them in... I always think that by the time eggs get to me, they are so old, getting them incubated sooner is better than letting them sit for longer.

But your choice.

:D

We usually candle while unpacking eggs shipped to us.

Most people recommend letting them sit for 24 hours. If the aircells looked perfect we would go ahead and start cooking em though.

They look good, Al! Great job packing, Mr. and Mrs. Dude. As for resting, just don't put noticeably cold eggs in the incubator. Let them come to room temp before they are put under heat. If it is cold in your house, put them somewhere a little warm to ease them into the bator temp so they won't sweat. I would candle to see what kind of air cell damage you have. If they are bad - sliding, bubbles, split, etc. I would let them sit in the incubator without turning for at least 24-36 hours, maybe longer. If they are not too bad, I would go ahead and let the turner do it's thing. I agree, they need to get in the bator at the correct temp as soon as possible, but should have no sudden temp change.

Lol. Dude said Alaskan loves treasure hunting at the dump. He suggested I stop checking here every 15mins

I do love treasure hunting at the dump!

But nah, I candled eggs, stuck them in the bator, and at the same time checked my Ameraucana eggs that have been in for almost a week...it looks like most are infertal. :he too depressing... So I spent the next couple hours making kids work.

-achem- Back to shipped eggs.

Maybe half had detatched air cells, but only one had maybe a tiny little bubble, maybe not.

They looked good, they were the right temp, so I put them all in. I hand turn, and they are only rocked from side to side... So I don't think there will be a problem.

Kick me in a week, I am tempted to hold my breathe until I can see how many start to develop.
