The Great Egg Shipping Experiment!

Pics
WOW! Is it black on the other side, too? What are you going to do with it? I know someone who would love to have it for some artwork.....

Here are the pics of your shipment.
The box arrived looking good. One small dent on the front corner.

Interior box was perfect, nestled in shavings/sawdust. The box had very little shavings on to top, did you have it centered and covered? I was wondering if it rose to the top....

Inside the interior box...

Eight eggs wrapped in bubble wrap and left open on the ends.

All eight eggs arrived perfectly! Upon candling, no cracks whatsoever, but air cell on all eight were detached. The air cells in the turkey eggs fared MUCH better than the duck eggs. Two turkey air cells were slipping as far down as half way to the pointed end, and two were just displaced in the fat end. All the duck air cells were slipping past the middle of the eggs and one was scrambled.

I placed them in the laundry room where it is cool and they can rest a few days. The sign is for my ever inquisitive boys.....

Great job, Jess! Again, I give you my heartfelt and humble 'Thank you!'

Sweet, as far as the interior box i set some saw dust in the bottom (not much) then centered the box and put the shavings around it. As far as the black duck egg it has about a 1" square of white showing but the rest is two toned going from really dark to a dark black. I have no plans for the egg as I am not hatching ducks this year. You want it? Let me know I might get a couple more hopefully.

The Blue, Black and Splash Australorp eggs are hatching!

1 Blue and 2 Blacks have hatched so far and I have pips in the others.

They were packed like this:

In Sawdust!

6 out so far 1 almost out and another pip! the one who couldn't stay upright is on the mend with a little tlc so if it's a her I see hope for her. another one in the bator appears to have a prolapsed rectum but.us can't be sure until I pull it out. currently I have 2 healthy welsummers and a black copper maran and a splash maran.

When you can get the one with the thing on the belly(probably naval where the yolk absorbs) put it into a tea cup--That will let it rest and hopefully let the prolapse to go back up.

Keep us posted!
