The Great Egg Shipping Experiment!

Pics
I'd better get back to work before BF comes home from the dump and finds I've been on BYC the whole time he's been gone instead of cleaning up.
Just throw him a smile and hand him a hot cup of coffee and all is forgiven......... Works on me every time when my wife does it!

I got my Eggs From wisher1000 today. Excellent packaging I might add and all arrived safe and sound except for one. Pretty good for traveling 2000miles through the postal system. They sure are hard on packages even though the box was undamaged I'm sure it took a number of flight and landing tests in the hands of a few employees during shipping. I did a preliminary check on air cell and they didn't seem too bad I will let them sit overnight and check again in the am prior to them going into the incubator. Here are the pics of the eggs and box for you guys. I will be posting my incubating results along the way.

Well, there went my perfect record.

Jess, can you tell why it broke? If the outside of the box doesn't tell you, can you see where it came out of the bubble wrap or was bumped by another egg, or something??

I am SOOOO BUMMMMED! My goal is to have every egg arrive with shells intact, regardless of what the post office does. I may not be able to keep them from scrambling the insides, but I want to pack in such a way that the shell is safe.

"Not your Fault" If that was the only egg that has ever gotten broken in shipping then I would say you are a shipping goddess! Somethings happen that we cannot control and postal workers are a good example. That's why they coined the phrase "Going Postal" One of my best friends is a retired postal worker and to hear some of the horror stories he tells, well lets just say it is a wonder anything makes it through unscathed.

Those are very nice looking egg!

Good luck with the hatch! Lockdown on Monday for me.

Good luck Ron
Jess make sure and post pics of the process and coffee always works on me too
wisher you are definitely a great packer and you know you can print postage labels
now. How many stamps was that.
scg you crazy lol
Ok now for the dumb question of the day. How does a hen "increase" the humidity before hatch? Do they or is that something researchers or whomever decided was best?

Good luck Ron

I will try and take pics of the air cell in the am and post pics of them in my new bator I built ( Very proud of it )

I know you are not going to believe me, especially SCG, but I did not put all those stamps on that box. Here is the box when I finished with it. Yes, I will claim the tape decorations, but hey, it was free so I didn't skimp on it.

The green card was laid there to cover up Jess' phone number. I had put it there so the P.O. could call him to pick it up, but I didn't want to put it out to the whole wide web. All I can figure is the little country PO that we have did it for some reason. I took it to them, they weighed it and I put it on my card. I don't know what they did to it after I left. It's a good thing they weighed it before adding a half pound of stamps!

It was a work of art and you should have seen all the rubber stamp marks over the stamps I guess they thought I would try to reuse them.
