The Great Wal-Mart Organic Eggs Experiment (Pics)

Well it was still entertaining!!! That's why I got 1 roo with my feed store chicks---they make a lot of mixed breed babies but I can at least hatch out my own---plus the mixes are really cute !!!!

I have a friend who works on a farm that grows those organic eggs. They don't keep roosters in with those hens lol, good luck.

Organic means they feed the chickens organic feed and don't use any chemicals etc.

Good experiment. and thank you for sharing your experience with us.

I remember reading in at least one thread, maybe more, that people had found eggs marked "Fertile" sold at Whole Foods, did not in fact, turn out to be fertile, but some from another place did. I know folks have had success with fertile eggs from Trader Joe's, and other places as well, including some eggs not even labeled as fertile.

I haven't done it myself. Having plenty of eggs from my own hens, I seldom have to buy eggs at all. But I have to admit, that after reading all these posts about hatching store eggs, I'm tempted to try it sometime. It could be fun.

Just finally checking back in. Thanks for the experiment. It was fun.

I will add this though. We all get different eggs from different farms with farmers who do things, well, differently. Just because these weren't fertile doesn't mean some others won't be. I'm going to keep on checking, and hopefully run my own experiment some time.
Good luck to us all!
Katy
