The Great Wal-Mart Organic Eggs Experiment (Pics)

All good ideas. I will let my daughter help me choose. She is 10 and loves to name the chickens.

Edited to add: She likes Amana. It sounds more like a name than the others, so I guess the chick has been named.

I've hatched eggs that had been refrigerated. I doubt that eggs from the grocery store that were just marked organic would be fertile. I think that fertile grocery store eggs are marked as such.

Just for the record, I bought 1 doz Safeway brand 'Naturally Nested' eggs today with a Julian date of 190 (freshest they had of the cage-free eggs). Scrambled 4; none fertile. I didn't expect them to be, and wanted scrambled eggs for breakfast anyway. But just wanted to report.

I can't ever tell if they are fertile or not. I just can't ever see the bullseye, even on the eggs that I pick up myself that I know are fertile.

Maybe your dots are on the other side of the yolk. You can gently turn the yolk over with a spoon. My fertile eggs have some pretty good size bull's eye's, they're hard to miss, unless you have a impaired vision. I do, but can still see mine.
