You are correct you will find some fertile eggs locally if you look. I am betting Farmers Market would be the best bet. I sell my eggs to a bunch of locall folks all the time and most of the time they are fertile. If they were addicted hatchers they would in for about 2.50 per dozen.

I went to our local Farmers Market and no one there had fresh eggs or fertile eggs for sale. I guess when my girls start laying that's one place I'll be selling...
