Excited to see the turnout!
Day 7--candling! The aircells looked good (didn't end up tracing them, just because I didn't have enough hands) and it looks as though all but one of the Sulmtaler eggs in the Brinsea are developing. I saw movement! I might have seen development in some of the BCM eggs, as well--a bit hard to see, and no way would pics work.
I do have pics of the Sulmtaler eggs, though!
The last one I'm pretty sure is a clear, but I'm leaving it in. Only one of the BCM eggs glows like that.
In 3 days, on day 10, I'll check the eggs under Frieda. She's still sitting, but I know she's getting up each day to eat and such, 'cause there's a new ginormous broody poo each day...
I don't care who wins, Frieda or Brinsea, just as long as you get a good hatch!
And yes, the BCM's are easier to tell by day 10-14, lol...
I *think* that all but one of each kind inside is developing. Out of 4 Sulmtaler and 5 BCM, I should have a girl of each breed, right?
I've stopped lifting Frieda up to chack for extra eggs--she's got herself clamped on tight, and the few eggs I've been getting have been in the farthest possible box
I refuse to answer the gender question on grounds I will jinx you, lol...
Sounds like Frieda is a force to be reckoned with while broody...
This *is* the same hen that, last fall, not yet a year old, made a boxer afraid to approach chicks :
I'd be laying my eggs as far as I could from her too... j/s...
Looking GREAT so far!
x2. Thanks for the update and good luck!
