The Head Tilt

I'm sure I am not the only one here who knows what a head tilt to the side means, your bird's eyes up to the sky. The rooster might make a squeal/growl like noise of discontent. It's predator watch, usually for other flying birds (hawks, crows, etc).

I love being able to watch the flock and rely on them to stay alert and be cautious when other birds fly overhead. It's also nice to know that it's usually the rooster who picks up on it first, protecting his girls.

I haven't been able to snap any good photos of that sideways glance, but does anyone else have some to share? Information on this behavior? Please stop by and chat!

I just had to make a little random post while out watching all our birds interact and scratch this morning. :)
 
My turkeys always alert me to flying predators, sometimes I can barely see what they are looking for, they all have certain calls for certain dangers, poultry are much smarter than people think.
