I think I got this post mixed up. My hubby was in an accident with our truck which I was taking as I could put the birds in the back of it but can't go anywhere right now and not sure how long it will take to fix or replace. Not sure about the truck. The repair shop called and are making an effort to fix it but it all depends on the insurance company. It's nearly 11 years old and the cost to fix it may be more than the value so the insurance company may want to total it but it only has 50,000 miles on it. Don't want to go out and buy a new truck but probably aren't going to find one like it with the same mileage. Also the bed cover got shoved through the back window and the bed frame got buckled. The only thing hurt was my hubby's pride.
if it is structurally sound you are right that you likely could not find one with low mileage like that.

I'm not a professional, but in my 30+ years experience in the auto body industry, I feel confident it's totaled. Since the bumper is still in the correct position, I'm going to say the truck frame is probably okay. The entire bed will have to be replaced, and if the back glass is shattered from the bed cover, there's most likely damage to the rear of the cab. Low mileage will help preserve a small portion of the truck's value, but it's the years that chip away at the overall value of a vehicle... second only to high mileage. Once the repair cost reaches 70% (on average) of the average retail value, insurance companies will total the vehicle. If it's a liability claim and anyone was in the vehicle when the accident occurred, there may be some compensation for pain and suffering.

Quote: The bed frame has a buckle in it and because of that they would have to straighten it out before they can replace the bed but I think they have been having a hard time finding one. There is a little damage to the cab. The back window is one that the whole window in on a track and goes up and down. Hubby was the only one in the truck not hurt but he feels bad.
