The Heritage Rhode Island Red Site

Strange question for those of you with HRIR... what do you use for roosts? type and size?
I am beginning to think my current roosts (large dowels) are not going to be wide enough for the HRIR.
I am in the process of fixing up their new location and am trying to determine what might be best to use for them as adults.
Since these are obviously going to be larger than my previous birds, I thought I'd ask some advice.
Thanks
I use very thick tree branches from my monthly pruning around the farm...A 10 feet guava tree branch is very strong and last almost a year with 4 to 6 big and heavy reds roosting on it...almond tree is another one that's very strong and lasting. I'm planning on making an enormous run connected to all pens and have a living fruit tree in the middle for them to roost

Sounds awesome 757junglist.

If I ever have the place for it… I have in my head a combination Lath house aviary for the birds… based on a building at my grandparents place. I’ve only have a 1/4 acre here to keep my birds and garden. So got to have space for the veggie beds…

Snagged these two RIR along with a few more chicks of other breeds… hubby got some more Marans, kids each got their own breed… nephew a barred rock, niece a black Australorp at the feed store, last year they told me the University is their supplier of chicks. So we shall see how they mature. I am still looking for RC RIR and RC RIW Hatching Eggs.

Already Ive had 5 days of non-stop heavy rains and the weather report and radars says 3 more days of the same $#!+ Are on the way. Maybe my birds end up mutating into waterfowl

Any commentary opinion suggestion fault or compliment about my breeder male is welcome...this is the only male I have ,when I bought all 10 birds as day old chicks a couple months later 3 pullets and 1 cockrl died from fowl pox infection...all 6 remaining stayed always healthy and no signs of infection...I have 5 pullets and I'll be uploading pictures of the ones that caught my eye when they came out of their first molt. They started laying on Jan 1 this year

My two RIRs are coming along, 4 Weeks… I will be seriously surprised if they get as pretty as yours 787junglist. I did find a person on Craige‘s list that might have SQ RIR, but so far I can only find Single Comb birds… the place I E-mailed that says they have RC RIR have not responded.
