Oh yes I too would love to drive a TOP FUEL dragster and all I've ever had experience in is a 14 second street car LOL But I'd give it a whirl though. LOL

No, the one feller Bob mentioned sounds like he just wants to buy a bird and go win with it ,which I'm sure it could be arranged, for a price of course and I call that the easy way out (if you got the money) huh? This action happens way more than most realize too.

Today was the Eastern Iowa Poultry Association's 142nd show. It was a great day. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to visit with Mr. Underwood himself. He confirmed that he is still raising Large Fowl Reds and hopes to until at least 2014, at which time the line will have been in his family for 100 years. There couldn't be a nicer man. Mr. Underwood entered 2 Large Fowl. I will post pictures of a few reds that were in the show, including Mr. Underwood's Rose Comb cockerel and my Single Comb hen (from my Rose Comb pen). My hen placed first place hen. This show excited me even more with this breed.
Good Morning Jim,
This is good news. Good to hear that Mr. Underwood is still raising some of his line. I know you had to be very excited to meet and talk with him. Your post only makes me feel a little more proud to have some of this line of RIR's. I openly thank you for sharing what you did with me. I still have all 12 of my biddies and they were 2 weeks old yesterday and doing just great up to this point.
Glad you got to the show, excited with you over your hen winning first place hen and so happy that you got to meet with Mr. Underwood himself and got first hand information from him.

Just a lurker here, but was wondering if someone could post some pictures of Bantam reds here. Soon as my old birds finish molting would like to get some opinions.
x2. I'm anxious to see how a Bantam Red should look compared to a LF Red. Same idea, brick shape, 45* angle of back? Or is there some differences? I too am a lurker here trying to learn everything I can before I get mine.

That is just great. You should be very proud of yourself with that % of hatch. Good for you.
Jim
Thank you, I could not have done it without all the knowledge I have learned over the years from everyone, and of course my Sportsman. I use to use broodies 25 plus years all year around until about 8 years ago when my DH Byrd gave me a Hova bator.VIVI
