The Heritage Rhode Island Red Site

Hello all, do y'all know where i can order hatching eggs from true Heritage RIR?

Part of the problem this time of year is that for most folks, the breeding isn't being done. There may be someone who can help you, but remember, this is the time of year to pick up adolescents as many people thin their flocks heading toward winter. Just a thought?

Can you explain why and when folks do the breeding? I'm new to this.
Most of us breed from January thru April-May. Welcome to the thread. Tons of info here. When you have time you should go back at least a 1000 post and read up. There will be lots of answers for you. Ron

Hey folks,
I came across a site while searching for shipping boxes. This may save us a little money if you ship enough to order the dozen. Hope this helps. http://www.bellefarm.net/id15.html

I ordered some today. Shoot, maybe some of you folks that live close together could order some and share and split the cost. I did put this URL on my web site home page just in case this gets lost in the shuffle.

Jimmy great boxes I have about five left. However, there may be or may not be a catch. If the chicks are under three days old they can go in these with open holes. Over three days old the post office wants to silly white filters over the holes. You can order a roll from George at Horizon cut little strips to go over the holes and then glue it down. Time consuming as can be but comes out to about six dollars per box. I put five chicks on each side and take them to the post office and off they go.

The single nest boxes are more all ten go in the box about 15 bucks each . If I go to a show and can buy say ten of them most suppliers charge ten bucks a box and that saves postage.

Glad you got them. Maybe you can write bob on one of the boxes for my dream Rose Comb chicks this spring.

Also so glad you are willing to share your good birds with our beginners. There is going to be a lot of them this spring wanting Reds. bob

Hey Bob,
I ordered the second box. The cardboard shipper w/filter already glued in. Total for a dozen cost me $98.26 Different zones makes the shipping price different. That comes to just a little over $8.00 each. I couldn't find anything any cheaper on google search. I already have the chick boxes etc for day olds that I bought last fall. I paid more for them then these would have cost me. lol Oh well, win some loose some. I'll be sure and put your name on with big bold letters. ha,ha,ha.

Jimmy,
Does the cardboard shipper have vents in the ends or just on the top?
