The Heritage Rhode Island Red Site

Jim sounds like you stay busy maybe a little bit too much!! If we lived closer I would come help you. I have taken chimneys apart and yes they are a mess. Would be nice if you could figure out something with that chicken water to make life easier. That under ground line I put in, 200 feet sure has saved me a lot of work this winter or I should say my wife. She has been doing the chores since I am still recovering . Bless her heart I need to do something special for her.

Scott
Hey Scott,
I'd bet if you gave her a little peck on the cheek, tell her how much you love her and you just being there will be more then enough. Sometimes just a quiet " I love you" means more then anything. lol Most of us don't say that enough.

Hey, just in case I don't get around to it a little later, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and may God bless you all mightily.
Jim

Thank you thank you for the complement on the birds.   If you'd see me right now you wouldn't think I was so strong. lol  I am tee totally beat. That old chimney and furnace really did me in today. ha,ha,ha    Got the birds all taken care of, the folks have their bellies full with supper, the dogs are fed, all the dishes done and I'm not doing anything else tonight. lol
Now let me tell you the biggest shocker. This is the honest to God's truth. I would never lie to you. I have not had a day off since August 28 1994.  As true as God lets me live, this is the truth.  I love my critters, my home and my job. lol   When you say old fashioned, that's me. I do go to church one night a week. lol

That is a very long time without a day off, soon to be ten years. Have you seen the light bulb in the half cinder block heater to keep the water from freezing?

That is what I'm leaning toward Scott. It seems to be a lot easier for me to do. My buildings are all pretty close together and I think the electric wiring would be a lot easier then running the water pipe. I can't see myself finding the time to dig ditches to bury the water lines. Geez. that would take me an awful long time. lol Also my ground is like cement when you get down 6 or 8 inches. lol Shale rock. This was an old coal mining town and not real good ground. Lots and lots of rock. Gee, sometimes it is really hard to pound a T post in the ground.
I'll figure something out. I love these reds to much to get rid of them. lol
Thanks all

The third pic of that roo is cool. He looks like a bad dude. Nice bird.
Ha, ha, ha. He does really think he is a bad dude and I think he is too. They all are so special in their own way. The first boy is really special to me. His keel isn't quite as pronounced as I like but oh my, what a bird he is. Built like a Mack truck.
Thanks for the compliment.

Jim. .. What do you mean by fountains? I use chicken nipples in the bottom of buckets and 4" pvc. Just drop the discs in the buckets. .. keeps it all thawed.

This is what I think of for a fountain waterer. http://meyerhatchery.com/productinf...D=AKSF&grd_prodone_filter=PRODUCT_ID = 'AKSF'

You have some very nice looking birds. Here are a few pics of my breeding pen cockerels. They are Adrian Rademacher blood line birds. They were hatched back in Feb.
