The Heritage Rhode Island Red Site

We set eggs twice a week, haha.

what kind of incubator and how many do you have? I have a few of the styro kind two still airs and a 1588.
I'm wondering how often I need to empty out the 1588, wash it and let it dry for a few days. I like hatching in the still airs but for small batches of eggs it is hard to maintain the settings. For the 1588 all I have to do is make sure it does not get too warm when I use the oven or the temp in the house increases rapidly.

I set eggs on Jan 1st... candled them yesterday and they are all viable and growing well.
Will set my next batch on Sunday.
I will set roughly every 7-10 days from 4 pens... 3 with trios (2 trios of RIR, 1 of Rhodebar)and a large pen with 5 (they are F1 crosses)

I set in a Styrofoam and hatch in a Brinsea octagon ex advance.
I used to just use the Styrofoam but even with sponges had trouble keeping my humidity up after lock down.
So I use the Brinsea for lock down and hatch and hatch rate has been really high with no dry hatch problems since then.

I have a trio of Reese/mohawks and a couple trios of Roberts line of reds for sale in Northwest Georgia.Pick up only.

I would jump all over that, but I don't think I have done quite enough research yet......Wish I were ready, I really do want to go with the Mohawk line. It would be worth the drive!!

We have a 300+ egg scientific cabinet and 4 still air styrofoams for hatching. I should really put up a pic, it's nice.

It should be sterilized at least once a month in my opinion. More if you're bored and need something to do, haha
