The Heritage Rhode Island Red Site

Quote: I've already pulled out 13 roosters that won't make it to the breeding pens, I need to pull 3 more for the freezer and 1 will live with the layers as a backup. As long as you don't mind the drive up here, I'm willing to trade a rooster for one or your roosters. Or maybe next summer you can stop by Red Ridges place and pick up some chicks for me and I'll pay you with a few good RIR chickens.

HAHA. Yea Indiana a long way to go. Hell I hate go up to the corner store to get a cold one. HAHAHA

I don't think I would make a trip to the store for just a chicken to cook. But to go to the store is a very detailed process around here if DH is at work. It is amazing how much longer getting ready to go to the store and being there and getting home takes when one tosses in multiple young children. And I'm still not sure why but my children make the biggest deal about getting socks and shoes on. They would go barefoot into the store if they could.

Option two, process one chicken here and stick in crockpot knowing it did not get to rest long enough.

Hi all- I never got my RIR's yesterday, Duane Urch only shipped the mixed bag chicks. However, there was one in there that they told me *might* be an RIR... But I don't think it is, looks more like a MGB. Here are some pics:

Its a Rhode Island Red Bantam. They look different then regular Rhode Island Reds.

Anyone near south central PA who will have chicks this winter? I have a client there looking for some. Please pm me

Who sells heritage Rhode Island Reds? I am looking for at least 4 pullets to purchase in early Spring 2015. Please let me know. Thanks!

Where abouts are you located? Red Ridge might have some in the midwest. immyjay54 might have some in PA. Fogelly might have some in the south, he has sold in the past but not the 2014 season.

There are others, these are just the ones I know names with locations off of the top of my head.

Editing to add, spring is the time for chicks, fall is the time for started birds.
