I can relate as to needing to het ya breeding pen set up for next spring the work is never finished but we know this and experience this I am glad you sold all ya RIRs and happy ya placed ok maybe next time will be better as for molting it happens at the worst timing hope next run is even betyer for ya cmom.I placed ok. It was hard because birds I had picked out to groom for the show started molting. I took them any way and was pleasantly surprised and did better than I thought I would. I took a Rose Comb RIR cockerel and pullet, a Single Comb RIR pullet and a Rose Comb RIW pullet to show. I took some SC RIR hens and cockerels and some RC RIW cockerels to sell. Didn't sell any of the RIW boys but sold all of the RIR hens paired up with the cockerels and some of the RIR cockerels. I still have a lot of birds in my pens. I still need to get rid of a lot of the males because it won't be long before I have to get my breeding pens set up and right now the boys are in some of them..
I don't know of any but hopefully someone will respond. No one replied. Are there any heritage breeders near SW Missouri?
I am wishing you good luck on your next shows and congrats on placing in ya last show I have Faith in ya great birds I know ya will do great. The next show is in Pensacola next month, Saturday December 12, 2015. I not breeder so I can't help.. but as a admirer of this breed.. I think your birds are beautifulHi everyone,I'm new to the thread and relatively new to raising Rhode Island Reds. I grew up in a chicken rearing family, and my father's prized birds where his Rhode Islands. So, I guess you could call them a family tradition. But, I didn't start raising Rhode Island Reds until last spring.
Here are some birds that I hatched this year. I haven't picked out the breeders yet, even though the family is starting to get antsy about eating culls. heheheI still consider myself green when it comes to selecting Rhode Island Reds for breeding, so any advice would be appreciated!JamieI'm thinking about eating this boy. His wings seem to point downwards at the ends?
