The Heritage Rhode Island Red Site

Thanks for the responses everyone. When I said two types I guess I meant the production rir vs the real thing. We have been at work all day. Sorry for taking so long, but here are a few pictures:

Enjoy your chicks. No matter if they are PR or RIR, they are all good. When they get their feathers you won't even know they had the chipmunk markings. Please post some pictures as they get older. It will be interesting to see their progress...

Sure thing! Buddy went on a little about how they are supposed to be from good lines, so here's hoping. :).

So the color when they are young doesn't make any difference?

So, my wife and I bought a place in Southern West Virginia . Complete with a huge chicken coop . The lady that lived here for 40 years raised show silkies . I am wanting True Rhode Island Reds . I have been reading up on forums for months on these birds , and I am becoming doubtful on just how lucky I can get ! I don't want the production type . I want the type that my father raised as I was growing up . The brick , mahogany , broody type . If I can't acquire a flock , I will settle on a different breed . Guess my question is , is there anyone with these amazing birds close to Southern West Virginia ? Willing to help me out, come spring ? Anyone close were I could pick up ? Thanks guys , I have been reading and reading on BYC , to the point that I don't post !! Ha ! So much info ! Just wanna carry on a breed from my childhood , and to help preserve an amazing line of birds !
Be well , and be good to each other

Hopefully you will get some responses from your post. Here is a show I found and often times people that show also have birds for sale. Maybe you can connect with a breeder there. Also

Nice to see another fan of good chicken flesh here in WV...it's truly slim picken's here, mostly folks who just want eggs or pet folks and no news of many serious breeders. I hope you get established with Reds so you and I can swap news on our flocks....I flock with Rocks.

Can someone please post pics of HRIR chicks? I used to know much more than I do. I just picked up 5 Mahogany RI Reds and one has wing feathers that look different than the rest.
