No reason to contact Steven. All he has is GMO eating Mutants over there. I know because he got them from me and that is all I have. Some of them have 12 toes, 3 heads and speak Spanish. That GMO stuff is bad news.

LOL well mine eat all that too with the exception of my own homegrown corn that I know doesn't have frog DNA(but I can only raise so much of that my largest % fed is all from the feed stores) in it because Grandaddy did'nt know of such shizum way back when. But they can all be converted to non GMO organics I'd reckon, there maybe hope to save a few of them from mutating into a toad, still yet, Matt.

hey Mitch there ya go Matt has some LF BRs. GSBR line he has raised for a few years from his own breeder choosings I got some from him and will vouch they are good BRs, GMO fed or no. LOL

Jeff

it will be hard to find many non GMO/organic breeders on here they barely make enough money off their sales to buy regular feed much, less organic. most would close up shop over that one I'm sure. These big"H type" chickens eat a lot, GMO or not.

Oh my gosh Matt, I've been trying for a couple of months to figure out what the chatter was down in the bottom. I know now that it was those birds from you trying to communicate with these hillbilly birds of mine. And when that one with the third leg fell off the perch because of all those toes it really caused a ruckus. I am so thankful to you for clarifying this.

Not faulting anybody for their choice of feeds. Take what I say with a grain of salt, I tend to ramble. I was indirectly bringing up a few points on Heritage breeds; I mean if you aren’t a little health conscious and selective, what’s the point? I’ve got some fowl on commercial feed right now, but I do want to look into a ‘modern’ feed plan also. Some folks tend to have an outdated view about things like gmo’s relegating it to the equivalent of buying out of the ‘rotten meat’ section of the grocery or something, but I’ve looked into it enough to know that I’d rather avoid it as much as possible, but that’s just me.

Did not intend to high jack the thread, but here is a little info and the reason I'm looking to do things a little different. Doing things different like fermenting grains doesn't cost extra either if that's of interest. Folks have been doing that for decades at least.

Hey buddy, don't you think I'm upset over anything that anyone says about this kind of thing. I was born/raised on a farm, I eat what I want, I can't raise any of my own stuff. I am well will be 65 in Oct and am on no medications I work everyday, haven't had a day off since Aug 1994. My birds feed ALL comes from Tractor Supply. I do take vitamins I eat all the red meat, chicken and even a slice of that old bologna and a hot dog now and then. My dad was 81 when he passed and it wasn't a natural death and mom was 92 and we've always had the home made bread and I still make it so I don't put to much to any of what folks preach about don't eat this or that. For myself, I don't want to live to be 90 and spend the last 10 or so years of that time in a nursing home having someone else have to feed me and wipe my behind. I will admit, I wear glasses and have a few choppers missing and sometimes I lay something down and forget where I put it but other then that I can still chase a chicken if it gets out I just can't run as fast as I could at 40. lol I have a 16 room house that I have to take care of everything inside and out and still have mentally challenged persons that I take care of 24/7. So whatever is in the food that I eat must not be to bad.

For what's it worth.... I bought 30 chicks early this year from a breeder up north and receiver 33. I gave 10 of those chicks to a friend (he came over and picked them out when they were 3 or 4 days old, right after I got them. He fed his own mix of fermented grains, a recipe that he got after a bunch of research on the stuff. I feed my chicks medicated Purina Show Bird and Broiler complete.

Long story short, my buddy was at my house 8 weeks or so after getting the chicks from me and he was looking around at my birds when I heard him ask me.......What birds are these? I said what are you talking about, you have some just like them. He replied.....No really, where did these birds come from?

Be careful with what you feed your birds. Some of these companies spend a ton of money coming up with a good mix for your birds and it shows. In the case of my friend.....he now feeds the same way that I do.

No biggie I was mostly going on with Matt I give him and Jim(bout forgot Chris too here) fits everso often they always come back for more too LOL

Hey whatever works for a person is the way they ought to go I say, if everbody did the same ol same ol it be like we was all a bunch of computer programmed robots. I'd prefer to make my own decisions and deal with the after effects (good or bad) on my own just the way I see it, right?

I was just trying to make a funny...I like to make light of every situation. No harm meant.
As far as your links, we will just have to agree to disagree on that topic.

Jimmy, I didn't mean to scare you...I guess I should have told you my birds speak Spanish...:D

Matt
