More than likely they are production reds. Hatcheries do not sell Standard Reds. They do not breed to the SOP. There main interest is to breed to have the hens lay a lot of eggs. Hence there name Production Reds. So the type, color etc is lost.
 
The Reds that are available here do have very nice uniform eggs do the heratige breed have the same uniformity
 
I used to have 50 barred rocks and they were good chickens but their eggs were several shades of brown

I agree they are probably hatchery. Where do you live? If there are any poultry shows close to your area you will probably see some very fine Reds there. That is how I got started. I knew I wanted some and went to a poultry show and found what I was looking for. I had been going to that show for a few years. When I decided I wanted some nice pure heritage RIR's I did some research on lines. I love them.
