When it comes to weights on large fowl try to get your birds to weigh about one pound over standard weight. you will get better type this way and when you start choosing your birds for fast feathering and early developement you will end up with a better typed bird to lay eggs..
A standard can be purchased by many poultry supply houses and hatcheries. They got them laying around in a box to sell you. I think I saw some on Cackle hatcery site and Stormbergs. Dont worry about what year they are the words are the same as it was fourty years ago for Reds. I just remebered I have the words on my web site I wrote for two kids two years ago that had no money to buy one but wanted the words. I will look for it and post the site page for you.
Gary Underwoods Reds are kept at another ladys place. I dont know how she does with them at a show or not. They have Rose Comb and Single comb large fowl. Gary help her with the matings each year.
Any one going this weekend to the Ohio National. Should be a big show down with large fowl Reds. I wonder if Don Nelson will win with a pullet this year.?
In large fowl it should be between the Reds and the White Rock large fowl for Champion American. Jeff Halbach should bring some killer males this year.
Well got to go outside and feed these guys. bob
