Type isn't good. Definately lacking the brick shape required in a Rhode Island Red. High in the front where his back should be flat. Also seems short in the tail.

You never ask a question on this thread unless you want a direct question. NYREDS is an APA judge. I would accept his answer and start looking for better quality. In the bird's defense. Photos are not the best way to judge a bird. Enter him at a show and see what the judge thinks up close and personal.

ETA: Where did you get your RC RIR Bantams from?

Sure, I think I have a good example. the first 2 pics are RIR from an old line and the 3rd pic was sold as a Hatchery RIR from ATWOODS but really is a Production Red, the 4th pic is still undecided but I am leaning towards production because of his tail. Fourth one was from eggs sent to me as a RIR.

Don't laugh, because I got them from the PR from ATWOODS that had them marked as RIRS. Which I am sure came from a hatchery in Texas. It was the first chickens I had ever bought when starting in the chicken hobby. Needless to say after reading this thread I realize I have some awesome, high laying PRs. I will keep them because the are so pretty. But I am working on trying Heritage RIRs with a friend.

yup was looking for a straight answer like that. i did show him for 3 years. he placed 1st in his class. my old Ag Adviser breeds them. i got this one as a chick because he had a vitamin problem but i fixed it. he is slower growing but looks better now. these were taken when he was 6 months old. hes 4 years old now. and has more tail and stand higher, i have a female to but she was never shown cuz she got in a fight and her toe was removed in it. all my ag advisers RC bantams are deep red color and very good quality. he gets champion birds in shows. he sells them for $25 - $30 bucks. I love these birds. there non agressive and very tame.

Hi everyone,

I am new to this but I am looking for a very specific RIR. I am looking for breeders for a Mohawk Bloodline single comb RIR.

Thanks
