I still have a long way to go, but here is a cockerel and a couple of my pullets. They are about 5 months old. Feel free to critique them

I agree, the male pictured is light in color and the type is wrong. The tail set is way to high and has a break at the tail.
I see people advertising "Heritage" chickens all the time and in my area I see people on Craigslist advertising "pure bred" chickens when in reality they are just standard hatchery birds. I don't have a problem with people having or selling hatchery birds I just don't like when people misrepresent them. I do think that a lot of people just don't know the difference so I guess in alot situations they are not intending to do harm.
This is a couple of my Cockerels.

Not a bad looking birds, From what I can see by the pictures there is only 3 things I would try improving on them but still better than most I see on here.
I would work on Leg Color, Comb and Wattle size, and Back and Tail angle. The tail and back problem could be the way there is standing in the pictures but if not a good hen with a wide flat back, and correct tail angle would fix that problem in there offspring.

Chris, appreciate the input. I always say there is no such thing as a perfect bird. I do think I have something to work with here though.

You are correct there is no such thing as a perfect bird, luckily the things I see are easily fixed with some good hens.

I got real lucky when I got my start in Reds about 10 years ago in that I had three poultry judges/breeders along with master breeder Dennis Myers helping and drilling me with the breed and my breeding program.

Chris, I am pretty lucky as far as breeding this line of Reds go as I live about 15 miles from Bob Blosl and I'm not sure there is anyone that knows more about that line than him.

What line are they, Single Comb Mohawk?
I know Bob knows a lot about the Single Comb Mohawk line that's why I ask. There was also a Rose Comb Mohawk line back in the early 1900's.

Chris, I know the history of the Mohawk line but I will leave that for Bob to explain....he does a better job than I do and I may leave some details out.

Bob does love to talk about the old Single Comb Mohawk line, I'v read his stuff a few times, but I was just asking if your birds are out of the Single Comb Mohawk line.
