The Hidden Door-A Role Play (AKA The Most Dangerous Coffee Shop II)

“Eh... some of them do. My sister, for example. She can’t make the plant do things you can, like bending around or growing huge, strong branches, unless the tree can already do that on its own. She can only grow it, and heal it if it gets sick, or dies. She also needs seeds to make something grow, I don’t know if you have to, too.” Kevin said, doing his best to explain. He paused, studying her face and body language. “Don’t be jealous. It’s not a gift we were born able to use. In most cases, it starts between the age 18-19, and we have to learn how to use it from scratch. Almost like learning a new language, or losing weight, it takes time and practice. I still haven’t fully mastered my power yet. I’m sure she would love to meet you. You could probably teach her a thing or two.” He said, giving Cam a playful smile.
“Yeah, I hear most people don’t discover that ability until then,” Cam said. Her grandfather had. It took a lot of patience to culture that ability, especially for other people. Yes, she had to practice too, but she accelerated more quickly than others. Noah was now whining and dragging at her hand. “Well, looks like I have to go.”
“Noah, I think we might need a coat for you.” She slid a zip-up hoodie on Noah, the smallest she could find, but still enormously large on him, and admittedly a girls’ sweatshirt, then put a baggy sweatshirt on over her sweater. Yes, the clothes were a bit big, but the length would probably be better in the cold.
Noah pulled up his hood and shot out the door.

Aella and Taquikkar sat on the ground, out of immediate range of livestocks. She tilted her head back, looking at the upside down, anxiety-ridden Ciro from where she lay on the ground. One arm was slapped across Ta's back, her fingers taking gently through the direwolf's thick fur, the other hand brandishing a handful of flames out of boredom.
Quickly extinguishing them, she rolled into a somewhat sitting position and getting to her feet, her movements nowhere near graceful. She shook her head, grass spiraling from her hair. "Take a breath." She carefully stepped past Taquikkar, making her way towards Ciro. "I don't know. We'll have to find out. But panicking does nothing, you know." Hypocrite. Tell that to yourself.
"For now, we just have to...make sure she doesn't eat Kevin's animals. Not sure how we'll do that, but...somehow." She kept herself as optimistic as possible, not wanting to further fuel Ciro's anxiety with pessimism, but she wasn't quite size how they were going to keep a hungry direwolf from eating animals. She's already hungry, though. Are Earth's forest animals as dumb as Borealis' are?
Ciro had to smile at the grass that clung to Aella's mass of hair, but, though he was admittedly tempted, he restrained himself from picking the more stubborn ones out for her. "At the very least, we've got her blindness in our favor." He squinted suspiciously down at Taquikkar. "If you could even call it that. I swear, she still sees far better than the majority of us." He got onto his knees and slid the rest of the way down to Ta's level on the lush grass, earning an unenthusiastic whuff from her for his efforts. He decided it was entirely in his right to retaliate in similar snark, and did just that by launching a fistful of grass into her unrepentant face. "You're going to be good until I can figure something out, right, chica?"

Any teenager was acceptable to Noah, even grumpy purple-haired ones. "Yessss..." he said, shooting out the door. A cool breeze ruffled his thin short-sleeved tunic. Noah jumped back as though he had been burned, closing the door and shivering. "It's cold out there," he said, certainly not mentioning a solution like wearing something warmer. He would never do that.
Juli picked up a sweater for the two of them as she passed the chair. Pausing to look at Kevin as he growled his judgemnet at her.
“There’s no need to be rude to Kipp. Or anyone, for that matter. As far as I’m aware you haven’t showered either, and you’re just as smelly as he is,” Kevin said, shrugging. “Take someone else out with you, just in case.” He said. He wouldn’t say it to Juliana’s face, but he didn’t trust her outside alone with the kids, for many different reasons.

Kevin looked down at Noah, crouching next to him. “Normally they don’t. But you see, my family has been blessed with a... a gift, that helps us grow plants that aren’t native here,” he explained, smiling at the boy.

She watched him with contempt, biting her tongue as he spoke and forcing a smile. She didn't like having to fake nice, but she also didn't want to be put out on the street in Russia.

Juli tossed the second sweater she had grabbed for Noah back to the chair in the living room. Following Noah and Cam out the door.

Kipp considered following them outside, but the blast of cold air when the door opened made the decission for him. The was no way he'd be going out there with out a proper shirt.

He wondered if that was even a possibility, Kevin likely wouldn't want him cutting holes in his clothes. What he had would have to do for now.

"Well, I think i'm gonna try to figure out uhh, the whole bath situation." He said, mostly to Kylan who had gone oddly quiet after Juli had appeared next to him. "Be back in a bit." He added hopping off his seat and taking both his own and Juliana's plate to the sink befire heading upstairs.

Hana sat herself down in her sleeping area of the room, draping a blanket over her shoulders and clutching her sheathed katana firmly. Tears gently rolled down both sides of her cheeks, no matter how tightly she squeezed her eyes shut. She was all too familiar with grief, and it was never easy to handle, even for the rough image she might put on. She fluttered her eyes open, and sniveled as she wiped her tears away. Her grandfather was nowhere near caring and generous, but he was strong and stoic, of which she admired so much. He was the one who made her endure rigorous laido training, who made her compete in competitions. It was the entire focus of her life, and she sought out nothing else. She could hear his deep, diaphragmatic voice even now, his unforgettable lessons repeating in her head.
"Life, it will test you. Dull your spirit, if you let it. So you must be fast, and rise above your fear. Do not limit yourself, remain agile. Be keen. Be sharp. And you will overcome."
She trained with a wooden sword for more than ten years before she was able to hold the katana that was now in her hands. The one that he gifted her. He rarely gave her compliments during her training, and always held an apathetic face that never cracked a smile. She always believed that if she were born a male, he would've been more engaged. What she never understood was how her late grandmother ever fell for a man like him, they were complete opposites. She was outrageously doting and always concerned for the health of others, while he gave people a cold shoulder and never looked happy to see you, even if you were his own child. At least they're together now...

"Oh, sorry." Kipp said stepping back from the door. He hadn't been upstairs yet and did know exactly where to look for a bathroom. He hesitated in the doorway unsure if he should leave her alone.

"Are, you ok?"

Hana suddenly shrank away when she heard Kipps voice, momentarily surprised and yanked from her thoughts. She relaxed, gazing at the winged boy with untamed hair through puffy eyes. There was no way that she could make the stains on her cheeks go away now that he was there watching her uneasily. “Yes.. I mean yes.. I’ll be alright. Sorry you had to walk in on this.” she apologized solemnly, setting her katana to the side. She sniffed and wiped her nose with her sleeve, “Did you need something..?” she asked gently.

"Russia!" Noah shouted, skipping in the clearing. "Let's go in the forest!" Noah zoomed into the line of trees. They were piney woods, with needles coating the forest floor.
Cam drew in a deep breath. The scent of earth and the sharp odor of decaying pine needles filled her nostrils, drawing her home. Earth. It smelled so much better than Borealis, if she was honest. Borealis was unsubstantial somehow. Like she was the one solid thing in a world of mist. Here everything seemed more real, more outside. Stronger and more independent. If she disappeared the next day the woods didn't care.
But it's not real. The world is dying. The human one, anyways.

Kipp shook his head, "I was looking for a bathroom." He considered adding an apology for barging in, but instead hovered in the doorway holding his breath and studying the floor, and walls of the room.
"Do you... want someone to talk to?"

Juli smiled at the energetic boy.

"To the forest!" She shouted racing behind him to the trees. She'd been cooped up for far too long. Borealis was one terror after another, she had barely dared to leave the protection of the house she'd stayed in while she was there. Being back on Earth was spectacular, she didn't have to worry about being eaten just for being outside here.
"Hey! Bet you can't do this!" She said, running at a tree and hopping up to grab one of the branches and swinging up.

Someone to talk to?
Hana bit her lip, unsure whether to take him up on his offer. Is he really willing to listen? She folded her hands and crossed her legs, giving a timid nod to his kind suggestion. “Unless you still have to find the restroom? It’s the last door on the left from here.” She certainly didn’t want Kipp to make a mess on himself.

Noah, laughing, jumped as high as he could and reached for the branch before falling back to the ground with a grunt. He looked up at the purple-eyed girl. Diminutive as she was, Noah was still a lot shorter. He reached for the trunk, but instead of finding purchase he found a handful of tree bark and sticky sap. He wiped his hands off on his pants and squinted up at Juliana as if the way up into the tree was mapped across her face.
Cam grinned and jumped to the branch above her. Less gracefully, she kicked up her legs like she was a koala hanging upside-down from the branch, then straddled it and pulled herself up, A silly grin was plastered on her face.
Noah pouted at her, but Cam knew him well enough that he wouldn't accept help.
Noah paced around the tree three times, studying it, before realizing his shortcomings. His attention quickly hurried to something new. What was deeper in the woods? He sprinted towards the place where the trees were thickest.
"Welp," Cam said, because that was the appropriate utterance when jumping down from trees in order to pursue small, sprinting boys. "Better make sure he doesn't get into trouble." She ran after him. "NOAH!"
