The Hidden Door-A Role Play (AKA The Most Dangerous Coffee Shop II)

Someone to talk to?
Hana bit her lip, unsure whether to take him up on his offer. Is he really willing to listen? She folded her hands and crossed her legs, giving a timid nod to his kind suggestion. “Unless you still have to find the restroom? It’s the last door on the left from here.” She certainly didn’t want Kipp to make a mess on himself.
"Uhh, no I'm fine." He answered, he was wholly unprepared for the amount of floundering a bath would entail. Especially in someone else's bathroom. He took a breath and stepped into the room, sitting on the corner of the bed.
"Were they mad. that you were gone so long?"

Hana shook her head, “No... my mother isn’t exactly.. really interested in my whereabouts or my wellbeing. But I only called to see if she and my grandfather were okay... but” her voice started to become unsteady, and she took a deep breath to calm herself, “My grandfather fell ill from the virus.. and he was unable to recover.” she finished, keeping her gaze on her hands. She felt like if she looked Kipp in the eyes it would only start up her tears again. Just something about seeing someone’s expression change to news like that would only make her feelings heighten.

Noah, laughing, jumped as high as he could and reached for the branch before falling back to the ground with a grunt. He looked up at the purple-eyed girl. Diminutive as she was, Noah was still a lot shorter. He reached for the trunk, but instead of finding purchase he found a handful of tree bark and sticky sap. He wiped his hands off on his pants and squinted up at Juliana as if the way up into the tree was mapped across her face.
Cam grinned and jumped to the branch above her. Less gracefully, she kicked up her legs like she was a koala hanging upside-down from the branch, then straddled it and pulled herself up, A silly grin was plastered on her face.
Noah pouted at her, but Cam knew him well enough that he wouldn't accept help.
Noah paced around the tree three times, studying it, before realizing his shortcomings. His attention quickly hurried to something new. What was deeper in the woods? He sprinted towards the place where the trees were thickest.
"Welp," Cam said, because that was the appropriate utterance when jumping down from trees in order to pursue small, sprinting boys. "Better make sure he doesn't get into trouble." She ran after him. "NOAH!"
Juli hopped down from the tree her landing making a soft thud. They left. She pursed her lips looking after them as they disappeared into sunny forest. Not like I want them around anyway. She thought, turning her back on the two and wandering back toward the house. I should have stayed in Missouri. She took a deep breath of cold air sighing it out in a big puff of steam, and pulled her phone out of her pocket. It still wasn't charged, and she'd need headphones too, but it was nice knowing she could potentially listen to her music. Her battery had died what seemed like years ago. Though it had only been a few months. Her music had been the only thing that had kept her sane those first few days.

She looked up at the bright blue sky through the waving pine needles. The feeling of this place, the calm, made her want to dance.

"Oh." Kipp flinched at his own voice, he hadn't meant to say it. And surely there was something better he could have said. "I- I'm sorry."

Aria stepped out the door eager to see what Russia looked like in the light of day. She’d never really been to this part of Russia before. She glanced back over her shoulder at Kylan before feeling herself deflate, he didn’t like her like she liked him. Not in the same way anyway, he was her friend. Not her boyfriend, he would never be anything more than a close friend. She shook her head attempting to clear her thoughts, but her thoughts just wandered further. Is there something between him and Lilith? Don’t be stupid Aria. They’re friends. Like you and him. She sighed

Kipp sat in the awkward silence debating what else he could possibly do to make her feel better. He could hug her, except they were both sitting, and they weren't exactly close to each other. Also he apparently smelled bad, and he had no clue if she'd want him touching her.

The same sick feeling he'd had last night was worming it's way back into the pit of his stomach. Fear of what could be, that maybe Cam was right and the last three months had been for nothing, that everyone they cared about would be gone before they could ever see them again.

He ran a hand through his hair, pushing it back from his face, he knew he wouldn't want to be left alone. Especially not if he'd been willing to open up to someone.

"I'm really really sorry." He said again, stretching out a wing, and wrapping it around her shoulders. "Is there anything I can do?"

Noah came across a small stream in the forest, and he considered peeling off his leather boots and wading in, but it was icy cold to the touch. Instead, he cleared it with one bound and laughed cheerfully, looking back at Cam, before darting farther into the woods.
“Oh no you don’t!” Cam shouted. She lept over the stream without a break in stride and overcame Noah, tackling him to the ground. “Come back here, boy!” She lifted Noah up by the arm pits. “No more running into the forest without adult supervision,” she said, leveling her voice but barely stifling her erupting smiles and giggles. She booped him on the nose.

Hana didn’t flinch as she felt the weight of Kipps wing around her, she sighed, closing her eyes. “If you could somehow make this entire virus disappear, I would be really grateful. But that’s impossible for one person to do... so at the moment, I’m not sure. I’m just thankful you’re here to talk with me.” she replied, reopening her eyes with a small smile appearing. “My mother would never comfort me like this. She’d just give me a look and tell me to get over it as if it was that easy.”

"I think, everyone deals with loss in their own way. It's hard to admit, or to even know how you feel sometimes." His eyebrows knit together as he tried to put his thoughts into words. "Sad can come out as angry, and loneliness as indifference. Maybe she pushes you away, because she's afraid to feel better. Because, if she felt better it would mean she didn't care as much as she should."

Aria turned her gaze to the sky. It was blue but it felt so much closer here, like she could reach out and touch it. She breathed in the fresh air, it was crisp and cold but still better and cleaner than the air in cities. She smiled before examining the garden Kevin had, it was nice. She didn’t want to go back inside, she liked it out there but she didn’t know where she was going and the likelihood she would get lost was very high.
