The Hidden Door-A Role Play (AKA The Most Dangerous Coffee Shop II)

Finally a topic that wasn’t confusing.
“They have to,” Cam said. “Korim knows what he’s doing, and where he’s going. Kyle has to trust him. Kyle’s priorities are safely and quickly doing things. He’s a bit of a control freak too, while Korim’s pretty chill, but Kyle likes to side with him on most things, while Korim respects his adultness. So they get along most of the time.” Cam’s head was spinning from all of the ‘K’ names. Kyle and Korim, the K Oligarchy. Unless ‘Korim’ starts with a C.
Wait, if Korim is technically a Borealan name it wouldn’t start with K or C. It would be characters.

“A whole half-a-hour?” Noah asked. “Won’t you get tired?”
He climbed expertly on her back, gripping with his hands and legs.

He tipped his head at her description of their relationship. That didn't sound like they were getting along. More like they were successfully avoiding confrontation. And not the playful confrontation that Take and Blair had going on. He envied Take for being able to play like that, he'd had a worse day yesterday than any of them. And he didn't seem to care at all. Not hurting now, probably did a lot toward being cheerful and playful though. Then again, maybe he was trying to distract himself from it. Just like he was by talking to Cam. He shook himself out of his thoughts, smiling at her, making the happiness touch his eyes, like he really was that happy. What had they been talking about?
"What have you guys been up to anyway?"

"Going to save you. But clearly, you guys managed to save yourselves. We just started off yesterday. We stayed at the Korim's house for three days. My feet were totally banged up from walking barefoot all those miles, and I wasn't the only one. They gave us food and supplies for the journey, but it won't last as long as intended, probably, with all the extra mouths to feed." Cam paused. "But none of that is interesting. What happened to you? How'd you manage to escape a fortress that no one else did before?"

Blair growled sharply as she was flipped back underneath him, with no foreseeable escape. She swore at him harshly, trying to free hand from his grasp. "We're gonna be here a long time, then." An idea suddenly struck her, and even though she wanted to, she didn't look at her nose-weilding hand, not wanting to give him any hints. "Let my hand go, and then I'll give it back."
She was right about them being there a long time. Take gave a quick glance up at the group, growing further and further away from them. It was very possible that this stand-off could last for hours with how stubborn they both were. After a bit of consideration, one of his hands let go of her arm and firmly placed itself over her nose. If anything were to happen, he would steal her nose. Soon he released her wrist, her hand completely free. “There” he murmured, squeezing her nose mockingly. “Honk. Honk. Gimme my nose.”

The first sentence she spoke made his stomach twist, she was going to ask again."The Korim?" He echoed quietly, looking down at her boots as she moved on to another topic, and then another. Food was something that worried her. And then there it was, the question he didn't want to answer. He didn't want to think about it, or talk about it. He wanted to pretend it never happened. He didn't say anything at first, walking and staring at the ground ahead of them. They were finally getting to the top of the hill, and it leveled off into an open grassy field. More hills rising all around them, but for now it was flat and beautiful, the air still crisp and foggy in the morning sun. Why did she want to know what happened? It had to be obvious it wasn't anything good. Why bring it up?
"That's interesting?" He could feel his defensive walls coming back up. Angry instead of sad. He sighed getting more upset with himself over his reaction, he didn't want to snap at Cam, why did she have to ask again? He sucked in a breath of air, not able to look at her. If he didn't answer it would come up again, and again. How could people not tell that there were things he'd rather not talk about? "Take came, he's the one who got us out." And we left him behind to be tortured and turned into a we-sa. He veered away from her, hiding the tears that burned his eyes with a hand clamped down over his face. Forcing away the guilt the only way he knew how. Stuffing it down and shutting it off.

"Take did. Coming out there really did help. Take did an awesome job." As Cam sp, Kipp clammed up, Kipp who was trying to be open about something. "Kipp, what's wrong?" the words came out of her mouth even though she knew exactly what was wrong. But what else ould she say? "Was it really bad? It was really bad, wasn't it." Her voice was touched with sympathy. She decided to apologize for asking, even though she didn't feel it was her fault. "I'm sorry for asking. I know it's probably hard right now. But when you're ready to talk about it, I am too." Though I have no idea what I'd say.

He shook his head, he wasn't ever going to want to talk about it.

Blair narrowed her eyes, displeased with the grasp over her nose. She frowned at him, weighing her options carefully. The hand with his nose suddenly came up, and she pressed her open palm against his nose, not hard enough to hurt but enough to annoy him, getting in one last triumph before surrendering his nose. "There you go. You can let go of my nose, now."
