The Hidden Door-A Role Play (AKA The Most Dangerous Coffee Shop II)

“I always wake up early,” Cam said, locking her gaze with him. Together they walked into the main room. She came in expecting it in the same chaos they had left it in but everything was tucked back into its usual place and the tables were wiped clean. The hosts had done absolutely everything they could to make their guests feel welcome.
“Still,” she said wryly. “Maybe it’s my personal responsibility to, but I don’t really want to be there when someone decides the floor is a nice place to retch on.”
Kipp scrunched his nose up at her answer. Morning person? He barely believed there was such a thing. Cam probably just got up early because she had to for school or something.

He was glad that his stomach had settled since yesterday, but her mentioning throwing up, had him wondering which poor soul at the Daikrium was given the job of cleaning up his puke.

"I don't think that would be your job." He said following her down the stairs. "And if it was, I'd help you." He frowned at the mattresses laid out across the floor in the main room. It hadn't been fully set up the night before when he headed up to bed. But there were quite a few people down here still sleeping. Charlie was the only one sitting up, and he seemed to be worried about something.

He scratched at the back of his head, realizing Take wasn't among the people sleeping on the floor.

"Were they in the room with you? Take and Blair, they came back right."

Kevin stirred, a soft moan escaping his lips. The incessant sound of clucking birds and chattering people was enough to wake him from his sleep, the dull throb in his head quickening the process.
He blinked against the painfully bright light, sitting up on his elbows as he looked around. His gun was placed neatly against the wall, the chickens a few feet away pecking at the cracks in the building.
He rubbed his face with his hand, swinging his legs over the side of the bed. His back ached from the uncomfortably small bed, but he was grateful for a warm place to sleep non the less.

He wordlessly grabbed his gun, swinging it over his back and taking the flannel shirt off of the pillows and tucking it away in his pouch. He hoped to be able to eat breakfast before they left, but didn’t get his hopes up, just in case the Rugæ people decided they over stayed their welcome.
He ran a hand through his hair, pulling it out of his face as a small frown tugged at the corner of his lips. His hair tie was no longer on his wrist, and a quick look around the bed showed it wasn’t on the floor.
Maybe someone has a spare, he thought, glancing around the tavern for the nearest woman with long hair.

(I may have forgotten her name... actually all of the bar staffs names. And my laptop is out of commission for the next 2 weeks at least while I wait for a charger.)

The cheerful bouncy girl who had pigtails tied in her hair the night before was no where to be seen. Infact none of the staff were currently up, let alone manning their posts as one might expect at an inn.

Clearly this place had been used solely as a bar for quite some time and the owners weren't prepared to serve breakfast at dawn.

(Cam might have some. :) )

Cam smiled at the thought of cleaning up puke with Kipp. "Sorry, but the thought of cleaning up puke with you doesn't make it anymore appealing. It's still puke."

(Oh, Cam definitely has some. And she's always ready to share. XD this is the second time she's done this.)
"Do you think they serve breakfast here?" she asked out loud.

"Fair point." He said forgetting about his ignored question in favor of Cam's. "No clue. They probably wouldn't like us messing around in their kitchen. But I am kinda hungry."

Kevin looked around, noticing the staff was no where to be found. I guess that means no breakfast. He thought, turning away. If they were lucky, the soup stand would still be open. The warm stew he had that night sounded awfully good.

He spotted Kipp and Cam softly taking in the corner, remembering she seemed to have and endless supply of rubber bands. Taking a few steps forward, he paused, deciding it would be rude to interrupt. His hair could wait until they were done talking.
Changing his direction, Kevin jogged up the stairs, peering into each room in an attempt to find Aria. He hadn’t seen her since she drunkenly wandered off, and wanted to make sure she was okay.

“Same,” Cam said. “It would probably be a terrible idea to mess around in the kitchen. Some of the Rugæ dudes are huge. We’ll have to find breakfast somewhere else then. Something tells me those kids will be trouble without it. Speaking of them... I guess we’re leaving the kids behind here then?”

Numb

It was the only word to describe it.

Take had been hiking all night, dealing with the wind that tried cutting him down each step of the way. At this point, he didn’t even know how he was still moving. His legs seemed to just have a mind of their own, determined to get back to the Rugæ settlement, to his companions, to Blair.

He was lucky enough that his body produced such immeasurable heat that prevented him from freezing to death in the mountains. But most importantly it kept him awake— or it was just the demon that kept talking to him in his head, asking the most irrelevant and versatile questions.

What do you think Olim looks like?

Do you think he has all kinds of arms or something?

Or possibly he’s just some gross stinky bug. I would love to crush him.

I think bee’s have that hive mind sort of thing right? Where the queen—

He would go on for hours, rambling on and on without Take being able to shut him up. Eventually by the time the sun rose, brightening the sky with the most brilliant oranges and yellows, he was already nearing the settlement. He could smell the smoke from whatever the Rugæ were cooking up for their breakfast, and what better to wake him from his numb trance than food.

He had made it, and all he had to do was follow the river through the forest. His horns and tail never grew on him, and soon they would be long gone once he made it back.

“We’re... almost.. there..” Take managed to say in the most exhausted and tired tone, dragging the end of his words as he trudged along. He could already feel the cushiony soft sensation of a mattress, and only better with Blair in his arms sound asleep.

I wonder.. did a we-sa take her too?

Pft. Probably, if it was that easy capturing you, she would no different.

No.. she couldn’t have, she must have gone somewhere to hide it out or something.

I dunno Taco...

Take filled with denial, he was most confident in his speculation of what Blair did after he was captured. Not even the demons negative assumptions would convince him otherwise. She wouldn’t let it happen a second time.
Blair had told the wolf to find him.

So the wolf attempted to do the opposite.

The unlikely pair made it sick. The constant "Take. Take? Where's Take? But Take..." in it's head from Blair's earpiercing voice was almost enough for it to strangle Blair's body to shut her up.
The constant need to protect Take made it sicker.
The only thing he was good for was the demon. The twisted little thing was fun. And Blair hated it.

The wolf had turned them around, heading back towards the village, against Blair's wishes. Looking down at the human body, it shuddered. There was a thick gash down one side, though quickly healing, and a rib was quite noticeably broken.
Ignoring it, the wolf continued on.
The trees slowly thinned, and it found itself alongside a river cutting through the trees.
Stumbling down the bank, it glanced up at the sun as it crawled along the sky at a painfully slow amble. It knelt, cupping the strange human hands and scooping them into the water, cold and fresh. It drank, long and slow, until it's thirst had been quenched.
It sat back, listening. The river, rushing and tumbling over rocks. Strange birds, unlike those back on Earth, chirping and fluttering through the sharp red leaves over head, branches dangling over the river. Small creatures scuttling through the undergrowth, and–
Footsteps?

Human footsteps.
Familiar.
It couldn't quite tell who. But the heavy footfalls were entirely familiar, leaves crunching under their feet.
It scrambled up the bank, alert.
It darted along the river, footsteps silent despite the rapid movement.
Pink.
...pink?
It stopped dead at the familar pink hair, a pained noise escaping it.
It spoke in a low, guttural tone that didn't fit the body it came from.
"Seriously?"

Take in his zombie-like state was still managing to carry himself along, listening to the smooth calm current of the river beside him. Even in the condition he was, he was managing to block out the voice of the demon, who continued to ramble on to him.
He was tired. He was almost there—and he wouldn’t have to listen to the annoying creature in his head for another whole night. Giving a short yawn and a rub of his eyes, he lifted his head to observe the forest around him. That’s when he noticed the demon’s tone turn serious.

Taco. There’s something coming.

Take stopped in his tracks, grumbling with annoyance as he tried to listen to whatever was heading his way.

Whatever it was, was incredibly light on its feet.

That’s when Blair came into view, or at least something that resembled her.

Take stared straight onto the bloodied, wild version of Blair that stood on the other side of the river. He squinted, dazed and confused at the sight. “Blair?” he whispered to himself.

Gross.

Thinking it was some sort of illusion or dream, Take smacked himself across the face and tried to pinch his cheeks as hard as he could. But of course he was unable to feel any pain. When his eyes returned to her, and she didn’t fade or simply disappear, his tail started wag excitedly like some sort of puppy and a wide grin spread across his face.

Without any warning, he made a mad dash straight across the river. It was nowhere near majestic or effortless as he stumbled and fell into the water quite a few times in his half-asleep state, but he still made it across. Never once breaking eye contact.

Straightening himself up in front of her, Take looked Blair up and down, his elated expression turned to one more troubled. This wasn’t Blair. He recognized the look in her eyes that certainly didn’t belong to her. It belonged to the wolf. His eyes drifted to the claws that replaced her nails, assuming the wolf was intending to use them on him.

Hehe this should be fun.

(I know I read this. But I forgot it's existence. Also I don't understand. Which means Kipp doesn't understand... so... be prepared. XD )

"Behind? We'll... come back for them though... Right?" He looked at Cam tipping his head to look at her skeptically, they'd come all this way just to find them. Now she was suggesting they run off to find food and leave them behind. It didn't make sense to him. Maybe he just needed more sleep. Despite being terribly hungry the last few days the kids hadn't even been that bad. Even if they had been, leaving them behind seemed a bit excessive.
