Okay, so I gotta know. Am I the only one that wouldn’t answer a call from a foreign country in the middle of the night? Or at all? It seems a wee bit weird everyone’s having so much luck getting replies. But then again, I don’t answer any phone calls unless I recognize the number, so...

Kipp called around midnight moscow time which would be about 2 pm in Cali. I answer all calls..... Unless i know who it is.... And dont want to talk to thrm.

Most likely it would come up as private number. Although i suppose my phone does say that the call origninates from united states when i get an out of country call. Sooo maybe they would see Russia.

Kipp's brother would have answered because he expected a call at some point. And had half believed his story of going to Scottland.

Ohhh yes Meringues are like hard cookie like things that melt in your mouth. No I didn’t know u put it on pies. Wow who knew Australia and the USA could be so different

And Canada. I've never had meringues.

Meringue on pie is kind of slimy, with a crispy outside.

It's been so long, what happened?" Her words were jumbled, and he could hear just how shocked she was, and he was sure she was crying. "Yeah... It's me. Torin's right here, we're both fine. Shaken, but fine. I don't-- I don't know entirely. We were walking back home, and uh, some guys knocked us out. We're, uh, we're in Russia now. But we're safe! We got away!"
"What? Ky-- Some people knocked you out, and now you're in Russia? How are you safe in Russia? Who are you staying with, what did they want you for?"
He winced, knowing he was going to have a lot of bad issues if him or Torin let slip that it was a lie, but he'd be in just as bad of a situation if he said the truth. I can't believe I'm lying to her. "Uh, they wanted the ransom, I guess? We're staying with a guy called Kevin. We got trapped here after Corona hit, Lilith's here too, and some other's. But we're safe, we're fine. I'll call again later, I have to go. We'll be back home soon, I swear, Mom. I'm so sorry to have put you through this. Wait! Torin, come here, say hi to Mom!"
"What-- Kevin who? Lilith's there, she's back after two years? I don't..."
Kylan hurriedly shoved the phone at Torin faster than he ever had, nodding to his brother. "Hi, Momma!" The boy chirped, smiling happily. "We're alright! We're in communist Russia!"
He didn't catch what she said back, but he took the phone back away at the mention of communism. Muttering a final goodbye, he couldn't hang up quick enough.
He glanced at Torin, frowning. "Why do we have to lie to her?" The smaller boy asked, blinking up at him.
"They wouldn't believe us, and this way no one will get hurt."

Yeaaaahhhhh....... As a parent....

The information his mom would be taking in is:

"We were kidnapped by this Russian guy named Kevin and were still trapped here, they want a ransom. Oh yeah talk to Torin to have proof he's still alive. Bye."

She's so confused! This is not going to go over well.

i'm not sure i'd like it. I keep thinking it's like strawberry shortcake, with whipcream as frosting. It's hard to imagine it being meringue.

Is the cake part similar to the little yellow cakes you can buy for strawberry shortcake?

Lexington is 7 hours behind Moscow. So it's like 2:00 for the Archers.
I guess she just is worried and is taking calls in case it's her sons?

Or maybe it's because I literally hate writing parents because I never know what to say, so confusing them and pushing them out of the story is the only thing my brain knows how to do
And his "this way no one will get hurt" to Torin translates to: I won't get put in a mental hospital for probably kidnapping my brother who obviously has scars all over him from being whipped and is possibly very malnourished and saying we were taken to fantasy land.
so basically that's my fix-it-fast-go-away-side-characters
