The Hidden Door Chat Thread

Thank you, girl. It's so hard losing her, she was literally one of my best friends even if she was just a chicken, but I know shes not suffering anymore. I've never been sure that I did something right when putting a chicken down, always a what if, but now I know now that shes not in pain anymore.
She was one of a kind, though, and I will never forget her, and there will always be a gap where she should be in the flock, but at least I got to know her, y'know? She could have been sold off to some farmer that would have culled her 3 years ago when she had egg bound. At least I know I gave her the best life that I possibly could, and she was literally spoiled like a queen.
Oh, you don't have to explain yourself to me, missy. They're never just chickens to us. They're always there -especially for the lot of us isolated homeschoolers , they're great listeners who pass no judgements, and possess an endless reserve of comicality that that humankind will never ever master, no offense to us.
I don't think any of us are ever sure- it's just the nature of being attached. But, cliche or not, letting go when it's better for them is really the ultimate act of love.
Again, I have to reiterate that you couldn't possibly have done better by her. And that's coming from someone who's never even met you, so you've gotta know you do beyond great with your gals. :)

They really are. Humans can only offer so much, but a animal, specifically chickens, offer far more. Thank you, girl, I really try to give them the best I possibly can. Its hard when my parents don't see them the way I do, but I try. It means a lot.
