The Hobbit

I started to fall asleep during some scenes. It was still a decent movie.

Pros
They added content from Tolkien's other works to flesh it out.

Cons
The chase in the Orc cave was too unbelievable.
The wargs chasing the brown wizard with the rabbits was hokey.
How can you fall asleep!? There's too much excitement! I guess if you aren't really into the story... It's fantasy, so to me, it doesn't have to be believable, but the chase in the Orc cave was changed from the book (to be a little more ridiculous, I think) and the wargs chasing Rhadagast made him seem foolish.

Quote: that was a goblin cave

anyways the while concept is a hokey story so why not have big fast rabbits out run some catdoghorses or wargs

was it me or did the bad critters seem more feirce and capable than they were in LOR

You're right; it was a goblin cave, and that's why the goblin-king looked a little... well, sillier than people may have been expecting.
Here is an interesting article relating to the probability of a bunny sled from the perspective of a recreational musher:http://www.theonering.net/torwp/201...her-looks-at-the-realities-of-bunny-sledding/.
I found it quite entertaining as well, and recommend anyone who wonders about this to read it. Basically, having a buny-sled, as long as you're a wizard, is a possibility.

I wanted to see it, until I saw an article on msn that over 100 farm animals died off set because the care-takers of the animals had them in unsanitary conditions.

Aggh... I wish PETA would stop sticking their nose everywhere. Elsewhere, I found reports that the animals had been well treated, and though some deaths had occurred, precautions were taken to keep others from happening. I'm sure some were accidents as it's a simple fact that animals die. But I agree that the production company should look into the state of the farm before keeping animals there, and I think the animals in LotR were better taken care of.

@Americana-lover, I don't think it was the movie's fault the animals died... I don't think that's a valid reason to boycott a movie. But I respect your decision. Here's what Peter Jackson has to say:https://www.facebook.com/notes/peter-jackson/animal-allegations-on-the-hobbit/10151300381651558
