At least you are located in an area where it is easy to get honeybees.
My kids are against it. It’s taken a long time to convince them that bees are your friend & not Mother Nature’s hired assassins.

DD1 leaves shallow water out for them now & tries to save the ones that fall into the Duck pools. It’s a huge improvement.

As a student of botany she will be realizing the full value of honeybees. Anyone that gets to try my honey immediately loves bees.
 
Sorry, I haven’t made through the whole thread yet. Anybody have any problems with furry predators breaking into their hives?

I have mine behind electric fences, but I live in bear country.

Also I am not sure about California bees, but the bees here do a pretty good job of protecting themselves. Especially, the dearly departed mean bees.

If you brought in Saskatraz bees, your bees came from California.
