Here in the banana zone of the north we have lots of things in bloom, mustard, all maples, williows, dandelions and the list goes on. I am afraid my pears are going to bloom too early this year.

I have an apricot tree that does well and is currently about 12' tall. Unfortunately it blooms too early and I will never get any apricots from it. It is loaded with buds right now and the temp the last few days has been below 20°F.

3 deeps on a package. Is there something I'm missing. I was wondering about using 2 eight frame mediums for mine, knowing usually it's 1 ten frame deep. First not sure if I'm missing something and second what are ya'lls thoughts on 1 vs 2 medium 8 frame boxes for a package start.
I figured If I start with one I would have to add the second sooner, yet not needed off the git go.

There are two deeps topped with an empty deep just for holding things for the day. I took the empty one off and added it to the second one today.

Both deeps are filled with all but one frame of drawn comb. The one not drawn frame makes it easier to fit the queen package in.

Starting with one deep is the way to go and add the second later. For me, it is more convenient to leave both the deeps rather than find somewhere to store the second.
