The hunting/fishing thread!

Bedding areas are good places to find antler sheds South faceing slopes as well as feeding areas and routes to and from feeding.
Where my friend and I found the two skulls was a thick area just above a small creek and below a ridge. Looked to be a bedding area close to a couple feeding spots.

I went back the day after I found the shed and covered a large area on the ridge above and around where I found it to try and find its counterpart but alas did'nt find anything. Found some interesting areas to check out in a couple months, though.

There's a group of six toms I've been watching that has stayed together since last summer (times and dates are not correct) and they are regulars on the cameras. I'm hoping to bag my first turkey ever out of this group come spring turkey season. There are some really big birds in this group.
PS: I don't know why the color is like that...

This past Saturday I went riding with some friends and I found my first shed whitetail antlers! After alll the hours I've been in the woods my whole life, I finally found a shed and it was a nice one! It was from last year and people have been by this spot a bunch of times. Later in the day, I found a buck skull w/o antlers and my friend found a nice whole skull w/ antlers in the same thick area. View attachment 3373067View attachment 3373069View attachment 3373070
That's awesome. I've been hunting for 25 years and just found my first shed this year too, three of them actually. Found them on trails near thick bedding cover.... found the third one yesterday evening.

Usually for me it's been when darkness is transitioning to daylight or daylight to darkness. It's that exact time frame where the camera isn't sure what to call it. In short it's dawn or dusk pictures.

What troyer said. There is an infrared filter that resides over the camera lens during the day that is flipped out of the way at night so the camera can see in the IR spectrum. The filter is controlled by the camera’s light sensor. In twilight its usually flipped out of the way but there’s enough ambient light present for the camera to catch the IR light in the sunlight, making the environment look pink.

Well the big 8 is still around. Also got a 9pt on camera that I haven't seen since October. Just now getting right down here. I took 2 weeks off starting Monday, hope I come across one of these guys in the daylight...
