i have never used one of them, but i did see a guy use one for trout fishing.

this was at a small stocked pond. all i know is he said it was very tough, but also said it was a very good experience (plus lots of fun)

also when talking to him he said it works good for fish you can catch on the fly. (think he was from Alberta and trout fishes for them in the mountains)

we don't got any crappie here so i have no idea how to fish for them.

we crappie fish from the kayaks....this year’s tentative itenerary is to hit Chickamauga end march, reelfoot derby weekend
and barkley around memorial day (with the boat for catfish)
figuring out if we can do something else earlier and/or in between.

Crappie fishing from a kayak? Interesting.

We have crappies, I fish for them, but they are not at depths or locations I could ever use my kayaks to catch them. They are a deep water fish or suspended over deep water here.
reelfoot lake is max depth of 10 feet?? most areas around 6’ in the blue basin where crappie are most often fished for. they spawn in the cypress knees

No crappies? Really?

I wouldn’t have thought our waters that different. But I have never heard of anyone catching them on Isle Royale either, and I fish that a lot. But our lakes nearest Isle Royale have crappies.

Isle Royale should be part of Minnesota. It’s closer to us and we use it more than you guys do.
