we just got out of a cold front, was minus 30 (-22f) felt like -34 (-29f) in the wind.

I am 52% sure I will pass on the afternoon hunt today.

Even us northern natives take a few weeks to get use to winter. But next week is an ice fishing week!

I am beginning to hate deer!


Having only seen one deer during muzzleloader season, and that deer giving me the equivalent of the middle finger.


Then we get the following series of photos from a neighbor friend:

This cruel mean buck went to her bird feeder to hang out with the wild turkeys and shed its antlers.

It is awful early to shed antlers. No self respecting buck should shed antlers during the season.

If it were possible, I would agree. It is not in my future any longer.



Today legal shooting ended at 5:01 pm.

I was slow picking up my stand, I didn’t start until 5:05. There is a big change in sunlight from 5:01 to 5:05.

At 5:06 I noticed a deer in the field about 50 yards out. I really debated . Really really did.

I raised the rifle to feel the view. I couldn’t even see the sights. The deer walked away. I cried.


Still am.
