The ideal poultry thread!

I have not ordered from Ideal, I have ordered from Meyers and Cackle. I went with cackle because they had a surprise box I was interested in. The chicks from Cackle were big and friendly, but I don't think I will go with them because I didn't click well with the main lady who does the facebook ID page. She was also in charge of possibly getting a free box of surprise chicks. The way to win was to be included in commenting on the facebook page. Then when I did she claimed I was weird for commenting too much, and saying people purchase a surprise box if they want one- even though I had one on order. So I told her I was going to stop commenting wait for my order, then not order from them again. The she accused me of being mad or something. I just decided I was done.

Yikkkeees! That sounds like too much drama for me. When I contacted Ideal they were super nice and friendly!!

The babies are doing so well! The one Sussex I was super nervous about it seemed really lethargic but is still doing well so far. Everyone seems pretty happy

I ordered from them this year. Three grey silky’s, two white silky’s and three Marian’s hens. Well the three grey silky’s died with in 24 hours. They refund my money. Marian’s end up with two hens and a rooster. I was not impressed. I’ve had better luck with Stromberg’s. I will probably stay with them for any orders in the future.

All of mine are still doing well! Can’t believe they hatched at 10am Tue and arrived 6:30am Fri and all made it, worst was a little pasty butt.

Look at this cutie! She’s a blue cuckoo Marans. Are the females barred as adults, or will she stay full gray?

I have no clue but if she is barred she will be Beautiful!! I hatched a Blue Cuckoo maran from my flock but it's a cockrel.

if you frequently have ordered from ideal and want to share some chick pics and your experiences this is the thread for you!

i have had a great time with them except for one of my silkies doesn't have 5 toes and has a weird head fluff
i think it's a mix and it supposed to be pure so i can't really trust them that i have purebred chickens but it might just be a mix up of a different breed
it may have been a honest mistake

Hatchery quality birds -- from any hatchery -- often vary from the breed standard.

Murray McMurray has made special efforts to sell a few breeds as show quality, but when you order from a hatchery rather than buying from a show breeder you have to expect some variance.

I have an order of 10 white holland poults from ideal to arrive the week of 7/6. They had a lower minimum number of turkeys to order and I only have one white holland now so I did need to get more before this year’s turkey laying season ends.

My order started shipping late last night, and I had to call to get a tracking number. From that, they will apparently arrive by July 11th which i’m hoping is a severe overestimate because i’m scared they won’t survive that long of a trip.

Where do you live? Mine shipped on a Tue night and arrived Fri early am to way upstate NY. Tracking was off the whole time so don’t go by that. They were showing an arrival estimate of Sat by 9pm.

Mine also said a long arrival but got here earlier. Keep in contact with Ideal they were friendly when I talked to them. Mine were the same as iluveggers shipped tues night arrived Friday am, I'm in Pa.
