Anise knew the situation was uncomfortable for Rin, it would be for anyone, it was for herself. So she mentally calmed herself, pulled herself together, and stopped crying. She wiped her eyes, and breathed deeply, "I'm so sorry you had to see that, Rin, I should have just apologized to him and that would be that," Her voice was a bit hoarse, but she tried not to sound like she felt, abandoned, just like she had felt during those years in foster care, "I shouldn't have tried to force him to change, I'm such an idiot. I'm so sorry Rin."
Rin stared at her. Even for someone as tactless as her, she knew Anise shouldn't be apologizing. She sat down next to her. "Anise, don't apologize to me. You're not an idiot, and you have the right to be mad. It's not your fault." Okay, not very eloquent, but the sentiment was correct. It might even sound right.
