Rin kept her expression neutral, "Really? How'd he get all those?" Okay, this was horrible. She was practically (okay, okay, literally) using Anise to get information on her own brother, but her problem-radar was beeping.
Anise tilted her head slightly, "Ah, well–" She wracked her brain, and then, a memory of when she was first released from foster care and Aspen came to collect her, floated into her mind, "When he first collected he from foster care, he got a call, someone wanted to meet up with him, but he didn't have time to drop me off here, so he brought me with him," As she voiced it, the memory got clearer and clearer, feeling like it had only happened the day before.
"He drove to the back of a tattoo parlor, I was shocked when he got out, told me to stay in the car, and walked in. After at least thirty minutes, he came back out, followed by two men, who loaded three long, black crates in the trunk." Anise paused, she was starting to feel like she was doing wrong by Aspen to be telling Rin all of this, but continued away, "I never got to see what was in the crates, but I guessed the next day when I asked him what was in the back room. He didn't want to tell me, but, he told me that there were weapons."
And then it clicked, his disappearing act, his secrecy, everything, "Wait, you don't think he could be?..." Anise trailed off, she couldn't imagine her bother being Claudos, but then again, she didn't really know him anymore.
