The incredible story of Gimpy, the black skinned, featherless, one legged chicken with pics!!

Things aren't going well with Gimpy unfortunately. Her good leg started to bow forward as she grew & I spent this week debating whether I should put her down or not but she doesn't seem to be in pain, gets around & who am I to decide whether a life is worth living, so I chicken out & hope that time will bring her back on her leg so that I can fit her new prothesis. She has a little coturnix quail buddy & it seems to have cheered her up a lot. Hold thumbs for Gimpy please guys.

Oh no! Any chicken's life is worth living just give her a chance! poor girl! I hope she'll be okay!

What antibiotic and pain meds was Gimpy on..... I know Baytril can affect legs...... Maybe once off meds the leg will strengthen. You could make her a chicken chair to take some of the pressure off......

What a great story. You should write a book about her life. Praying for the cute little girl and I hope she makes a full recovery. Regardless, you've done more for her than she'd ever have with anyone else!

Awwwwww that is the most precious story I have ever read......... what a sweet little thing.......
I would make her a sling, I had a hen get trapped under the wood pile for almost 3 weeks, when we foun dher she was skin and bone, and 1 leg was useless, didn't know if it would come back, but had to try, she made it and she is now back with her flock, being a good little friendly chicken.......... the sling supported her weight and she could heal and get the use of her leg back, maybe that would be all gimpy would need while on the meds and awaiting a wooden peg leg.......... I would at least try it...... here is snowflake the day we found her...... in her sling.......
